Re: Hmmm

"So be warned, another incident of that happening again would be all the evidence that the (decent)players in this league would need to tell you all to gtf"

Just wondering about those decent players as you describe them. Do you mean that players who have superior pings on server 1 are decent and the rest are not? Cause it do sounds like you in some way disrespects players with lag. Unfortunatly I have never had a single match on server 1 without lag :( but that doesn't make me a cheater, does it?

Anyhow you will probably see me teleporting around on your demo and it does not help you by threatening me....my connection won't be better that way.

Re: poo

@Misery:

Well I for one think that the technical aspects are important in the case, its that which decides if this is cheating or not. And to discuss this part is WAY more constructive than to flame or express an opionion that is biased.

I admit I might be a bit biased against (lol wrote towards in my first post) ION but that still dont change the technical aspects of this thread.

And you almost admit that you are partial for the BoT side here when you say "Even if we had a valid case...".

Also regarding the ION-BO 2on2, yes I brought it up and it was uncalled for but that is the reason I am a tad biased (but probably not as biased as the major part of the league :) ) Btw: You spectaded? Didnt know that, was BO aware of this?

Well anyway, this thread is dead for me if no new technical aspects arise.

/NeoCron

BTW: Im hardly a boy, havent been called that in 25 years.

I specced the BO/ION 2v2..
lmao at you saying it was close

Hogo>ION<

(and yes specs were allowed into 2v2 as it was suppose to be a spec event aswell)

Just someting I have noticed

I have seen the following a few times.
e.g. in guardia where the attackers cannot have armor or exta health (before bridge) I hit an attacker directly on with a rocket, tey seem to make a huge jump, but land and continue running/fighting.. this happens rarely and not on people i would expect to cheat, and normally not continus, my concluction to this is that people are not always where you see them, but it still looks like you hit them.
Have anyone else seen stuff this happen ?
just to note, I have ADSL connection but my cpu sucks at times.

Flame me - Not

=) Take me as spectator on 6vs6 match. You can trust me - it is not for looking for clan tricks and tactics (I already know nuff about it =), and my judgement will be fair and justified if something happens (I like ION and BoT just the same way =). The only thing - I can miss something fishy. =( 1 player isn't very good for specing 12 other players =)

Sigh and I wrote I wouldnt comment any more but here I am :( But then again this raises a technical issue :)

@Anjutka:

It doesnt matter if you spectate or not, depending on your connection you will see things the way the server thinks they are not taking ION or BoT connection into account. Worse even you add your own connection to the scenario making it even more complex.

The only way to be sure that someone cheats using lagslides (and other clientside hacks such as proxys aimbots etc) is to monitor the packetstream from the client directly and making smart guesses.

when i said "even if", i didt think u would bother to pick at it and reveal its inadeqacy(sorry for spell)as a comment

I dont know what happend but something was deffo dodgy, i have never seen problems to this extent before even when playing on server 2 with ohter uk players, where even with my T3 i get loss and a 250 ping.

neocron mate u didnt even play the match soo...... <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/ohwell.gif ALT=":\">

"we played SIK I thin thy are american and they all had pings of 250+ they didnt whine neither did we even though server was crap. "

Thanx :)
i played that game.

BoT is a good clan.

btw : [SiK] is now known as |-tHc-|

@Misery;

Yeah I know, but since you got personal I decided to be picky :)

Anyway, Im not trying to force my opinions onto you or another I just try to make you realise that jumping the gun as Gazzy did without even thinking is stupid and makes that person look bad, and in the case of Gazzy it makes ION look bad. Im sorry m8 (if you dont mind) but thats what happens.

Anyway, I think we all know and realise that there is NO way that you can tell for sure that BoT was lagsliding, teleporting or whatever. Just as its impossible for me to say they didnt, the scenario we have described here could just as well be PL and lag (or more truthfully) a combination of both, and therefore I think its bad style for ION as a clan to publicly accuse another clan of it. IF you have an issue talk to the league admin they are the only ones who MIGHT be able to actually get the data to support such an incident.

Throwing dirt just doesnt fit leagueplayers, its more like a kindergarden thing.

/NeoCron

PS: As a domination Assault clan, you have the respect of many players. With that there comes both power and hopefully a greater sense of responsibility.

PS2: God damn Im getting deep, doesnt fit my childish nature.

Serverside Demos

Lo all!

I have read this topic since it poepped up and so far, i might be blinds though, no one even had the idea to use serverside demos from now on. Both clans can download them and see what REALLY happened and not what they SAW happen.

Just a suggestion. Correct me IF I am wrong.

L8r,

Re: Serverside Demos

@SeaBass:

Well... reread the posts regarding how BoT clientside connection affects server objectview.

But if its a hassle or as I have it slow to load Ill summarize: If ION had a good stable (no pl) connection they would practically have a serverside demo. However, thats not the problem. The problem is the feed from the BoT client that is trashed (pl) making the serverview jerky/false/whatever.

So what you gain is possibly the removal of one complexity level and that is the ION clientside connection status.

/NeoCron

PS: Rereading your post I realized you meant as a general rule. Interesting idea but... I dont think it will be well received. Unless you use a moderator that determines if the distribution of the demo is warranted.

Re: Serverside Demos

I thing is I think I know what a packetloss slide looks like, the server will only send/receive the most important packets such as position and forget frop the wave binds and so on, but for some1 to disapeer while there wasn't a server spike(u will see the red connection symbol(FOJD) I think almost every time) or at least not be able to shoot or will teleport back a bit urself as well. But to seemly totally lose connction ??

@neocron

i didnt get personal, not even close

Hmm, seems i have to quote u again Ace, as I told u:

"I often have say ping 70-90 on utassault1 plus massive PL who makes me teleport around."

Which is exactly what u describe. And sure sometimes the PL only makes so i cant shoot change weapons etc. But sometimes, not seldom i do teleport around- and thats not when server spikes but my conn since it doesnt seem to affect others.

Re: Serverside Demos

@Misery:

Well I actually have to agree with you.

Re: Serverside Demos

@Ace:

Well I dont know if I understand you correctly. But it sounds as if you mean that the server filters what is received with respect to the status of the connection. Now this is not how it works, the server has NO control over what packages will be lost etc. The only use you have of limiting in/outgoing bandwidth is if you are running on a low bandwidth connection. If you have large PL its a good idea to increase the resolution of the packages so that a lost package doesnt have a large impact.

Anyway, server lag spikes affects everyone thats true but the network hud does not indicate a netproblem for all players on the server, it just means that the feed to the specific client is down.

If you look at the demo youll see BoT turn around and fire, this aint done within a slide so the slide has to be initiated after the fire. But BoT is standing on the railing at the moment. This also indicates that BoT on the railing fires and then jumps down and continues into garage. At that moment the positional info is lost due to PL and the server predicts the position to be on the other side of the railing. Then the real position occurs and the server brepositions. I think the timeframe (the demo is rather slow) would be roughly 1 second in real game time.

But I also agree playing under such circumstances is very irritating, but as I said thats the game. I really think now that the demo doesnt indicate an intentional lagslide but rather constant PL of a rather high magnitude. And I also think Gazzy knows this, but I dont really expect an excuse although I think its warranted.

/NeoCron

PS: Now this thread is definitely dead (at least until the forthcoming demos is available). If you have some comments directed to me personally my mail is available thru the BO webpage, www.boteam.net.

Re: Serverside Demos

What's to say the PL isn't intentional?

Also to the best of my knowledge, people who suffer anything more than light lag tend to drift off into walls or suicide themselves into the floor, and I haven't seen that once.

For reference, BoT forfeited the two maps we were meant to play, kinda sucks esp having Neo on a per minute link, 45 mins is like 45p just to be told "we're forfeiting" ffs.

No more demos I guess, proves my point BoT don't want us to see what they do :)
