THE INTRODUCTION

-=-=-

Just some notes about how I've written this report:

- Objective times were hardly ever important, the main importance lay in which ones held immunities. So, not every objective is listed as having been taken at such and such a time.

- Immunities won are always listed. If Charge 4 in Bridge is the primary immunity, I denote it as Charge 4(P). If Second is the second most important secondary immunity, I list it as Second Base Entrance(S2). Easy. This is to save you having to constantly recheck what the immunities were.

- After each map is complete I list who got the highest immunities and therefore the votes, who got eliminated, why and whether or not it was a good choice (in my opinion), and the top fraggers on defence (until the 5v5, when it ceased to matter). This is so you can keep an eye on who might be approaching that 3-in-a-row streak, thereby winning the permanent immunity.

- There were 24 people involved in this event from the start. I have tried to mention everyone and I know I specced everyone at one time or another, but I can't see everything that happened, particularly since I was also doing UTV and didn't have the freedom to spectate players from third person view until around the 4v4 (UTV would crash if I tried it). So, if stuff gets left out or I miss important things, please reply to the thread with your own screens, videos, whatever. It's all good :thumb:

- Sorry for the wall-of-text at times, but I'm a wordy little waffler :ban:

ROUND 1 - BLUE ATTACK

Suitably warmed up by the warmup, the twenty four Mym disciples faced off for this gigantic custom map. Gladiator][ is heavy on things like objectives that are a long way away, hills, launches, rockets and big bridges, yet light on things that all UTA players seem to want, such as sniper rifles. So, this map was placed on the board to have all the snipe-ho's scratching their heads and wondering why their frags weren't going up as quickly as they usually do. The blues poured forwards from the first spawn and Ase was the first to take the Bridge(S4), but the reds were up for some thpammage and began knocking down all blue comers.

Salva and Loco decided they like really wanted that permanent immunity and stuff and so they started squabbling over the catapult, like two dogs :dog::fight::dog: fighting over a trombone, each getting nowhere just as quickly as the other. Mym did get a spree but mainly from his minigun, while everyone else packed the bridge and rocket-spammed the back hill. The blues meanwhile had the idea of setting a rocket-launch along the side hill, Insp, m1cr0 and Promax getting sent high and long, courtesy of the selfless smant, although he did also send Ase into a big fat wall and forget to bring the armour from the spawn :hm:

With at least three reds approaching the arena it was largely up to free^ and XB to hunt them down and keep them from hitting that tantalising Warrior permanent immunity. Solar and killerdude also arrived on the scene from the same rocket-launch and the defence around the arena was slim. Ase had long since snagged the Wall(S3) and the reds were baffled (someone hadn't been practising the map!). It didn't take long for the blues to push into the square and steal the Sword from under the noses of a weak red defence on 22:50, smant being the man who got it by sprinting all the way around the back of the Sword enclosure and hammering over. With no teamspeak the reds had been unsure of which place to defend - Sword or Warrior - so this freed them up a little to regroup on top of the hill and regain some control.

The blues were likewise free to try for the Warrior immunity, though understandably few of them were willing to set launches for their team-mates over the wall and into the arena. The reds were not defending the wooden ramp at all, although it's easily done, which led to a steady succession of blue Myms hopping over and making beelines for the Warrior. Poor free^ had little help in the arena and found himself in a 1v1 situation with Farac, who failed to spot him in the very centre of a huge, flat arena of flatness :whatever: This didn't matter because Pogo arrived on the scene to stop free^ doing any real damage to the Warrior with his :hammer: Solar and Stylefish were spared the embarrassment of being flakked by Pogo - they got noobed by the Warrior instead. Oh, and Axl got blown up by a mortar.

Insp and m1cr0 were going nuts on the big hill behind the First Gate, leading Mym, Loco and Twnz a merry dance all the way to the top and way to the back of the map. Insp brilliantly splatted while Twnz managed to finish off m1cr0 with a quick flak-to-the-nostrils. There was plenty of similar tossage, such as Ase trying to get creative by going to the back corner of the arena, then realising he was lost, or nightwing trying to hide at the Gate, unwilling to accept that it was surrounded by four million red deffers. But the important thing is that it was smant who finally got sick of the whole immunity bollocks and just sent three rockets the way of the Warrior(S2) at around the 20:45 mark, meaning the blues could now hit the First Gate, which smant again did by running up Twnz Hill, dropping down the other side without splatting (hi Insp) and dodging in before backman Sphere could react.

By this point the red team already looked stronger, just going by the frags. DJ was top on 20 but there was a nice even spread all across the team. Most of the blues, however, were under 8 frags, which was the lowest red def score (Vitz, sry m8). Anyway, the Box Barricade was next and it fell from virtually the first push, Bn getting the killing blow, and so the blues were through to the bridge. I don't usually like to talk about Bn, in the same way as I don't like to talk about women's nipple hairs, but it was he who pwned the Bridge, first by having the initiative to set hammers along it, then by sneaking left to snag the invisibility. It was this which allowed him to just hop all the way along the bridge, unlooked for by any number of blind red fools, and take the objective on 17:52 with no real help from anyone.

Riv on red was beginning to put in some nice frag work and was way out in front, and the next section gave everyone on the red team a chance to distinguish themselves, whether by dropping low like Twnz and Loco or taking charge above like Riv, who quickly got bored and started flak spamming. The blues were trying hammerlaunches, hammerjumps, sneaking around the back and failing hammerjumps (m1cr0) and just charging up the ramps for lack of any better ideas. This normally simple portion of the map went on for over three minutes and it took the ever-thinking smant to go all the way back along the bridge, grab the invisibility, armour and boots and just jump his way up the slopes to grab both Switch 1(S1) and Switch 2. I had no idea invisibility lasted that long  It lasted even longer, letting smant cross most of the outside bridge before he was finally spotted, though it took a Twnz minigun to finish him off before he could sprint to the Radio.

This next part is a horrible chokepoint and the likes of Solar, Insp and Bn were getting nowhere with hammerlaunches from behind the boxes. This was like shooting rats in a barrel or whatever that phrase is, and even after the blues' high double launches to the top of the facing wall kept failing they still kept on trying to do 'um :coolfip: Actually, one did work beautifully except that it sent the blue player to a roof containing two red snipers :caek: The only way to get past these twelve spammers (well, three were sniping) was to !summon killerdude who, with the help of some powerups, charged emo-style through the archway, backhammered to the right to run behind the building, then backhammered again to the Radio on an appalling 11:13, just before arsemissing Sphere could twadge him one.

XB, DJ and Vitz hung back at the door while everyone else ranged out in front. The blues rebooted the launch that had gotten someone to the roof earlier and sent quite a few more people over, but the reds knew all about it by now. Riv was still heroing his way up the def fragcount and not even Twnz was keeping up with him. After a prolonged period of nothingness Solar managed to sneak to the rock on the back right to set a hammer into the doors. Twnz spotted it and took him down but meanwhile Insp and nightwing both took advantage of the break in the backdef to arrive at the door at the same time. Used to wearing much wider trousers than Mym's, Insp fell over his own feet and died, but recently reconnected nightwing was dodgy enough to grab the Final(P) on 15:43, backman Riv too slow with the minigun to catch him. Just over quarter of an hour gone, bad start by the blues. Riv had made nice inroads into the top frags immunity, coming well first with a hefty 76

ROUND 2 - RED ATTACK

The reds needed few or no long drawn out pushes or iffy launches to have both the Bridge(S4) and the Wall(S3) in the bag in under a minute, Sphere grabbing both of them with a little hammering and not too much trouble. The blues had only time to give the catapult a tug once - m1cr0 boosting Bn out of the way to grab it for himself - before they found themselves being very quickly rolled over by the far more obnoxious reds. Twnz, free^ and DJ were not slow to head up the hill to the launch spot, although the mortar was equally speedy to knock poor DJ in the head before he got there. Twnz was courteously sent over the wall and into the arena with not a single blue around to see it, but the Warrior took him out with a deft cumshot to the eyeball :blackeye: Salva and free^ emerged from over the wall immediately afterwards but non-noob Farac was at hand to drop them both with one flakshot each. Trickster Riv turned up on the arena surround straight away and, seeing Farac's work with the flak below, chose to feign until the danger was cleared. He loaded up six rockets and dropped to the floor but he completely missed and Farac sent him packing as well.

Stylefish eventually got the message and joined Farac in the arena to play with his monster, joined soon afterwards by Ase, Solar and nightwing. Bn, m1cr0 and Promax, among others, were on the far side, flakking the stairs against the onrushing reds, the Sword having been taken long ago by the lovely Axl. The arena was clearly the reds' priority, however, and it was the easiest thing in the world for Pogo to not even try and hammer the Warrior(S2), instead choosing to rocketshot him from fourteen miles away, shortly after the Warrior took Twnz down for the second time in two minutes. DENIED!

Blues then saw the end of the First Gate roughly twenty seconds later, thanks to no teamwork and Sphere's dodgy dodgings onto the switch, in spite of four or five blues trying to flak him. The blues held the Box Barricade only slightly longer than the reds had, seeing it fall within ten seconds of the First Gate thanks to some Salva sneakage, in spite of a lubly spree from Solar, and they had to be in place at the far end of the Bridge to be ready for whatever launches the reds would try. Bn had the sense to prevent the reds from copying his earlier triumph by grabbing the invisibility, a fact unappreciated by Vitzy, who went for it, didn't find it, and then jumped in the lava for an encore :whatever: Pogo and XB combined unlooked-for in the right corner, sending free^ all the way not to the end of the bridge from a double hammer. Eat lava, free^. The reds then managed what the blues hadn't and they pinged Salva all the way across on 12:08 from a double hammerlaunch which the blues failed to spot, despite it being right in front of their noses. At least it put an end to Axl trying deplorably to hero his way across the bridge alone :trout:

Something else they failed to spot was Riv and Pogo running all the way up to the Switches on only their second (at most) run from the new spawn, with Riv hitting Switch 2 and Pogo following up straight away with Switch 1(S1). Laughable blue def there, what with only two spam chokepoints to defend and a million flak cannons to do it with. When I tell you that the biggest fragger on blue's defence was now d1sc with an almighty 15 you will surely see how total the blues' capitulation was, even only one and a bit rounds into the match. A long hold on the Radio was obviously completely out of the question and the reds didn't even bother with setting any launches - they knew by now that all they had to do was run forwards and fire lots of flakshots, so it was simply a matter of who would be first to the Radio and they don't come any more simple than Salva, who reached it on his first run by doing precisely what I just said. Ase was there to kill him off, but too late!

A primary immunity for the reds was now a given with nearly eleven minutes remaining, and all the blues could do was try to be top fragger in the hopes of snagging that elusive def frags immunity. It was easy as pie for DJ to arrive at the top of the stairs while his teammates dropped around him and dodge his way through, nightwing-like, to the Final(P) on 10:25. No-one from the blue team could hold their heads up after this one, although there was one bright spot for Insp, who came top of the fraggers with an awesome 18...

-=-=-

BLUE IMMUNITY: nightwing(P)
ELIMINATED: Promax - this was maybe unfortunate for Promax, who came third from bottom on the blues' attack round, but nightwing clearly just looked at whoever was bottom of the frags on the second round defence and with a mere 3 Promax had to go.
TOP DEF FRAGS: Riv - 76

RED IMMUNITY: DJ(P)
ELIMINATED: Vitzy - it's unknown whether DJ voted Vitz out based on his def frag count or his attacking prowess, but since Vitz came last in both rounds this seemed a fair verdict anyway.
TOP DEF FRAGS: Insp - 18

11v11: BioAssaultSmant14
Primary: Bio Chamber (penultimate objective)
Secondary: Shooting Range > Science Corridor > The Tunnel
Permanent (Att): 200 points or more (frags + objs)

-=-=-

The permanent immunity this time was a hard one but not an impossible one. In the end no-one on either attack round came close, but there was definitely plenty of fragging to be had. If the blues had won the previous map (ha!) and been forced to attack this one 11v11, someone like m1cr0 or Insp could maybe have crept beyond the 200 mark. But it was not to be :( This btw was our first look at smant's special revision (another one) of BioAssault, replete with things and stuff. My first thought was that the bridge area might be too defensible, but the blues were on hand to prove me so wrong :stupid:

ROUND 1 - RED ATTACK

Anyway, the reds oozed out of the tunnels like toxic seepage, XB and free^ leading the way with miniguns a-missing. The blues were loaded with shocks but Riv still nearly made it to the Tunnel with some arch-hideage before killerdude finally knocked him down a hair's breadth away. It took a well-placed hammerlaunch along the bridge to send Twnz nicely over everyone's heads and skipping past the last barrier to take the Tunnel(S3) on 9:45, with backman Insp unable to react in time.

The reds suicided and proceeded to finish off both Gates in mere seconds by just powering through, with no real need for launches or hammerjumps, though one or two did try the latter. The blues fannied about, unable to cope, and XB must have thought he had a good chance of grabbing the Science Corridor(S2) when he almost sneaked through with a shock on his first run - but enough blues had suicided to catch him with plenty of room. He then set up a couple of failhammers for anyone dumb enough to take them, but it was his ickle brudder who got boinked into the little armour hatch above the Corridor and dropped to snag the objective on 8:15.

Insp was having issues with m1cr0 on the blue def, with m1c climbing the frag table rapidly with 23, as compared to Insp's holding zone style 9. Meanwhile the reds were charging happily towards the Shooting Range(S1), although most were being taken down inside the spam archway. The Brothers Quim combined again to reach the far side of the boxes and attempt a little sneakitude through the tunnel, but that man Bn knew all about it and so did his flak cannon :flack: But more and more reds were figuring out that the side tunnel could split the blues' monopoly on the spam route, and so it proved when first Salva and then Axl were taken down horribly close to the Science Corridor. Salva had another go at it on his very next run, hopping onto the weapons stand in the centre in order to effect a dodge into the objective on 6:23, thereby opening the new spawn.

The blues quickly crumbled against the next wave of reds up the tunnel and it was only a question of who on red would be first to nick the Bio Chamber(P). That question was answered by the rampaging DJ, winning himself the immunity for the map (!), and the reds duly split up to attack the objective which would finish the round. The leet map design of smant came into play here, as the Bio Chamber objective (which DJ got) and the final objective (which Twnz got soon after) were both listed as "Bio-chamber" in the F1 display. This meant that one second it was listed as having been taken by DJ, then a few seconds later it was overwritten with Twnz's number  No-one noticed it at the time, players or admins, and I only just noticed it while typing this report. It means that both the exit to the last tunnel AND the final objective are considered the same by UT. Erm. Ask smant.

Anyway, Twnz finished things off a few seconds later and his number duly appeared in F1 as having taken the objective, with DJ's sad little number nowhere to be found, in spite of the fact he had 24 points inside 5:15 on attack. Since no-one knew it had happened and since Twnz was listed as having taken the "Bio-chamber", he was given the vote. This cannot have made Pogo feel too good, since he was well last with 7 frags and no objectives :\ But at least we learned from the final message that "Torp sucks dong!" :ban: Or at least relearned.

1776Shot0005.jpg

ROUND 2 - BLUE ATTACK

Speaking of smant, it was perhaps expected that he should be the only one to know about the jumpboots hidden in the water, since the first thing he did was to jump off the bridge and go for them. It took him a while to get back to the underside of the bridge and attempt to jump up behind the backs of the red deffers, which he managed to do, only for XB to uncaringly chop him down within feet of it. Now I'm not saying this is bug abuse, but the guy who rebuilt the map onto a revision which no-one else had any opportunity to explore beforehand immediately goes for a powerup no-one else knew was there or could be expected to defend against. Does that seem fair? Not to me. Crime doesn't pay, smant, eat floor :copcar:

The rest of this round was fairly nondescript. Solar and killerdude were trying to make themselves useful by setting single launches but they were coming to nothing. The reds' minigun and shock pwnage at the back was too strong for the blues who did get launched. In fact it was smant's boot lameage which finally grabbed him the Tunnels on 1:44 - now he's even using it to pick up immunities! Cheating scum, so he is! The funniest thing was that he managed to fuck up the Tunnels objective in the same way as he had the Bio Chamber, which meant that when Farac reached the far end of the Tunnel he got the "The Tunnel Is Secure!" message. This overwrote smant's Tunnel immunity and html, as fooled as everyone else, awarded Farac the vote :D

SELF PWNT! PAHAHAHA!

Soooo, in spite of kd and Stylefish nicking the Gates between them, all that really remained was to place bets on who would get the highest frag count on the red team. In the end Twnz and XB shared the joint honour on 24, meaning that Riv's streak towards the permanent immunity was now invalid and he would have to start again. And since Twnz and XB tied they could not claim that as a start either.

2836Shot0006.jpg

-=-=-

RED IMMUNITY: Twnz(P) - should have been DJ
ELIMINATED: free^ - unfair, I believe, since Pogo was bottom in the first round and not much farther up in the attack. Pogo's combined score was 25, while free's came to 32, which shows that Twnz was not thinking tactically at this point, instead merely voting the lowest fragger off in the second round.
TOP DEF FRAGS: Twnz / XB - 34

BLUE IMMUNITY: Farac(S3) - should have been smant, but fuck it
ELIMINATED: nightwing - pretty fair really, third lowest def frags, lowest attack frags, no objectives.
TOP DEF FRAGS: m1cr0 - 35

10v10: Siege][
Primary: Win
Secondary: Tnega

-=-=-

Intrigue and enigma surrounded the arrival of everyone's favourite piece of rubbish, with no-one, not even me, certain of the magical objectives which would win two lucky players immunity. But, at the very least, this map would surely be held for a long time on both sides? I mean we've all played Siege][ before? WRONG!

ROUND 1 - RED ATTACK

DJ did something right straight away, hopping onto Tnega(S1) for the only secondary immunity without even realising he'd done it :D Thanks to smant's inability to organise a map's objectives list properly, people were calling for Salva to leave (DJ's pick), when in fact Twnz had chosen to boot free^, thinking half-correctly that he had the vote. Salva stayed anyway amid a shower of confusion and the map was underway. Riv was barrel-launching Twnz while Pogo loaded rockets to launch... who? Riv? He was about to die, Pogo, what would be the point? Phewl. Insp, Stylefish and Solar were taking up good positions outside to try to halt the onslaught, but there were too many blues posted missing when Riv sent Twnz into the middle tower and through the tele. Luckily, m1cr0 was inside to cut Twnz down before he could reach the shock rifle.

With Stylefish wondering why he was the only blue properly defending the bridge and Ase having to mop up around the Gatehouse button, the reds were more or less free to pick up all the objectives they wanted to, just in case they turned out to contain immunities. They didn't, of course, but it was Twnz who grabbed the Gatehouse on 9:24, thus beginning a short sequence of red domination which culminated in four or five of them charging unimpeded through the tower and coming face to face with Stylefish, totally alone on the roof. Seriously, wtf? Pogo took him down and touched the Final(P) to take the primary immunity. The entire thing was over in a paltry 1:17 :calm:

2736Shot0007.jpg

ROUND 2 - BLUE ATTACK

Fish grabbed Tnega this time, leetly, but red decided to do what the blues hadn't wanted to in the previous round - spam the bridge :spam: Just about every red was down there to stop launches and kill runners, so it's criminal that no-one spotted Bn and d1sc dropping to the water to head for a possible water launch. It didn't matter much really because Stylefish chose the moment of their arrival to hit the Main Tower Doors and the Gatehouse button, which meant there was a swarm of reds around who could spot any launching being set up, and neither Bn nor d1sc made it to the launch spot.

Since it mattered not a scintilla to the reds whether or not the blues took the map, they were all free to fragho on the ground. The roof was empty but no-one in blue pants could fire off a decent launch, which led to Twnz taking top spot with 9 frags and Stylefish hogging the immunity, courtesy of Tnega, although he thought he had done it via Main Tower Doors :fish::trout:

297Shot0008.jpg

-=-=-

RED IMMUNITY: Pogo(P)
ELIMINATED: Axl - no argument there, a mere 2 frags and 5 in the previous round, no objectives. Plus he's Axl.
TOP DEF FRAGS: Twnz - 9

BLUE IMMUNITY: Stylefish(S1)
ELIMINATED: Bn - second top fragger in the def round and always willing to set up launches on attack in all the maps he played. OK, he got a mere 2 frags in the second round, but d1sc was even lower on 1. A strange selection and blue waved goodbye to another decent fragger.

9v9: DustBowlRev04
Primary: Win
Secondary: Base Control > Inner Base > Main Gate > Fuses
Permanent (Att): Ripper both Generators from outside of both the Gen room AND the lower tunnel

-=-=-

Another tantalising permanent immunity arrived inside another custom map, but one which had perhaps been designed for more than 12 players at a time, and thus pretty much perfect for a 9v9 faceoff. Not quite a BigAssMap but close. Speaking of big asses, Twnz had been scoring highly all night and it was only XB's frag stealing in BioAssault which had kept him from claiming a 2 map winning streak for top def frags. Could he score another top spot here and be just one map away from a permanent immunity? All this and less shall soon be revealed :jester:

ROUND 1 - RED ATTACK

Fish and Insp took up positions in the sniper nest for some early kills but the reds were ready for them and sauntered past, opening the side door, hitting the Fuses(S4) and overriding the hatch in next to no time, the blues too busy whoring the spawn area. Riv and DJ fought for control of the Gate Switch, with Riv using his sumo-esque bulk to nudge weedy pigeon DJ out of the way on 11:31. Insp stole both Ase's kills there to take 3 kills, one under m1cr0's top 4 :x and Fish and Solar were ready above the Gates to watch while Salva plumbed new depths of ineptitude. Speaking of plums, XB took a sore one directly to the fruitbowl within sniffing distance of the Main Gate(S3) but Pogo was right behind him to take it on 11:03.

Farac had disconnected somehow but no-one cared; people like Mym were too busy running along the deck to try to pass the gates and people like smant, Ase and Insp, doing some nice plasma work at the back, aided and abetted by sniping Fish and Solar, holding positions well. As the lasers went down, Mym and XB both got twadged inches from the thingy by backmen Ase and Solar, and meanwhile Loco was pinging red team-mates all the way to the back, only to see Twnz get flakked by Solar and Sphere dropped by Fish's close range sniper. Salva took advantage of the gap to minigun his way to the Perimeter Lasers button, although he totally missed it first time, tried to run backwards to prevent stealer Pogo from again taking what was not his, and failed.

DJ soon pushed through to the Inner Base(S2) and Salva was not far behind, eventually being taken out by m1cr0 after they both spent twenty minutes missing each other (with guns, not feelings). What few blues there were pushing forwards got quickly killed off by the eager reds, all desperate to snag themselves a permanent immunity but slightly baffled as to how to do it  The idea was to ripper both Generators from a place that was neither the low tunnel nor anywhere inside the Gen room. Tricky. Wonder who came up with that one :google: Riv set a lovely hammer for his wiser, older brother, who took the scenic route around the building until Fish finally got rid of him. Salva was up high but Ase dealt with that problem, and meanwhile little Pogo was busy trying to ripper the Generators from inside the low tunnel. Fail, l2english. Finally it was XB and Twnz doubling up on the Gennies to take them down with shock and rockets, voiding the immunity.

With Farac still missing for the blues, Pogo jumped in to take the Laser Control and Twnz was first to push through to the Base Control(S1). With over 8 minutes left on the clock the reds were obviously going to finish, so the blues got all fraggy. Insp had long ago stolen many more kills from Ase to take him to 18 by this point, and with Ase on only half that it looked as though the def frags immunity would be reset again. Fish was the only one camping the low routes but he couldn't deal with Twnz and Salva at once, and they both ran through towards the end. Salva selfishly hammerjumped to the Lasers button while Twnz did all the donkey fragwork on the ground, but Salva got spotted heroing it to the end and killerdude's rockets caught him on the low ramp. Twnz was presented with all sorts of problems trying to run the final few yards and he took down Insp and kd in quick succession, only to see Pogo launch DJ through the air to land perfectly inside the Final room, DJ taking it on 4:18 and Twnz just generally taking it :takeit:

Interesting to note that once again Twnz got to vote when really it should have been DJ. Want someone to blame? Blameulv.com. Meanwhile Insp just barely held the top def frag spot on 19, with snipey sniperton Fish just 1 below him. On 18. Farac had still not returned and could legitimately have been said to be the lowest blue fragger :naughty:

7609Shot0009.jpg

ROUND 2 - BLUE ATTACK

Snipe-ho's Mym, Salva, DJ and Twnz (gut lineup, reds) all hit the sniper nest straight away to rack up those kills. Loco and Sphere were farther back and the reds seemed to have all the exits covered. First to the Fuses(S4) was killerdude and his future 2v2 team-mate Fish hit the Gate Switch just moments afterwards. No-one looked for Solar hammerjumping to the roof in the corner, which was how he was able to run to the front edge and drop down to take the Main Gate button on 2:15, and very soon afterwards could be seen Ase making a great solo run through the gate, hitting the Perimeter Lasers and then taking the Inner Base(S2) directly afterwards on 1:58 - kankerdef, as m1c might say.

With just over a minute to go, the blues' job was made no easier by red having all their fraggers up front, at least 8 of them, all armed with shocks. Ase had done well to get them this far but killing off both Gennies and reaching the Base Control point would be a tall order. Fish took Generator 1, of course, just to prove me wrong, but with 30 seconds to go he was still the only blue managing to push through the wall of red spam with any conviction. The map ended with Generator 2 still operational and this meant that Ase had won himself the immunity with his charge on the Inner Base.

1766Shot0010.jpg

-=-=-

RED IMMUNITY: Twnz(P) - should have been DJ again
ELIMINATED: Salva - a painful one for Salva but not unfair, after his third bottom points on attack and rock bottom on def with a laughable 9. Top-heavy with fraggers anyway, the red team could afford to lose him at this stage.
TOP DEF FRAGS: XB - 29

BLUE IMMUNITY: Ase(S2)
ELIMINATED: m1cr0 - a huge choice and purely based on snap judgement of the second round scores. If there was one player the blues could NOT afford to lose it was m1cr0, who, thanks to doing more sneaking than fragging in round 2, ended up with a single point to take with him to the failboat. And this after coming joint third in attack. Definitely not a tactical decision, Ase wasn't paying attention :(

Permanent (Def): First to Godlike (applies in both rounds)

Two more permanent immunities up for grabs here, in a map which invites snipers to hide high and wreak havoc around the beach. It would all depend on who was strong enough to claim a good sniper spot and absolutely all the ammo... Stylefish :fish: Remember that name, for 'twas he who was a fragho

ROUND 1 - RED ATTACK

So... four on the bridge, four below? Or three on the bridge, five below? Stylefish, d1sc and Insp chose to fight over sniping rights on the bridge while most of the others did the mop jobs on the ground. XB was up quick, thanks largely to Loco, and he made it all the way down to the Final room before panicking Ase sprang out of nowhere to d0ng him one. Tired of 30 seconds of low def, killerdude joined the others on the bridge for a few moments until he realised he can't snipe, whereupon he rejoined Ase and Solar for some Base backdeffage. They were doing quite well against a wave of reds containing the likes of Loco, Twnz and XB, who had all been discouraged from doing double launches under the bridge, yet Pogo was allowed (by the bridge snipers and beach deffers) to swim up with a belt, hammer over the wall, hammer onto the boots hut and jink to Second(S2) on 14:19 without anyone even noticing.

Once Second was gone not all the reds opted to suicide, which was good news for camping-under-the-cave d1sc, pwning everyone with his Sniper Rifle of Infinite Ammo. I believe it was Riv who sent Twnz to the bridge, though my demos don't tell me where the launch happened from. It was either a double tree or a sniper tower launch, unless I'm much mistook. The point is, everyone on the bridge missed it until Twnz took down Charge 4(P) and then Charge 3, at which point Fish finished him off with rockets. Riv, Twnz and Loco tried to launch outside but all three got taken out by the autocannon :stompa: With Twnz having stolen the primary immunity quite early, the rest of the reds were motivated to take it nice and easy via the low route, and Solar, smant and Farac camped below the Final, with Fish joining them to get in some cheap spam kills. By now he was on 8 points - not even top fragger - and the blues were four objectives away from securing the map.

Next thing we knew, XB popped up at the Final, presumably from a gate launch or a bootjump, and the low blues were scrambling back up the stairs to try to catch him. They failed and Final(S1) went on the 13:30 mark. Fish sprinted up the ramp to the bridge, grabbed all the health and pads he could find, and began watching the beach. Sphere was preparing to send Mym skywards with a sniper tower launch but Fish popped Mym in the head as he went for the pads - a terrific shot. The beach was getting packed with red launchers though, and Ase dropped low to help out while Farac got in some hefty rocket spam up above. Fish's Dominating! arrived a few moments later when most of the reds just gave up on launching and charged the bridge. He stayed back at the base and got some sniping in while d1sc, Farac and smant pushed forwards, Ase remaining on the beach to keep an eye out.

Charges 1 and 2 were swift to follow at the hands of Mym, and Fish took Riv's head off to reach Unstoppable! One objective to go! Could Fish score five more in time? Sure, if he camped by the Detonator with a belt and picked up some poor sod's dropped shock rifle. Even Insp and Farac's front spam was getting them nowhere much and Fish hit 22 through Mym's face. XB went low through the bridge while Loco and Pogo ran across it. Fish reacted to kill off Loco with some rox to reach 23, but XB was hammering to the detonator behind him! In true XB style he got stuck behind one of the boxes and shuffled towards the win, but Insp was there to kill him with a point blank sniper shot. A billion blues combined to take out Pogo, who was right behind XB, but with the help of the autocannon Fish was able to take the point with some rox and then a lucky combo :arsemiss:

But there was more to come. Riv and Twnz crept to the beach and Riv collected the belt and the boots. Twnz sent him to the bridge from a sniper tower launch and Riv landed right in front of Fish, who was too close for his combo to react. Riv jumped again and it was certain that he would land right on the...

GODLIKE!!!

...failboat :whatever: Fish got off a combo save to take belt, boots and Riv's face. And, with the permament immunity in the bag, he was free to lose interest, so when a horde of reds appeared from high, middle and low all at once, the blue defence caved at last and Loco backhammered to the Detonator on 4:22. Pld Fish :fish:

450Shot0011.jpg

ROUND 2 - BLUE ATTACK

The blues were out of the traps quickly, tired of always having to attack in the second round of every map. They fanned out in all directions, smant setting a late cave for killerdude, Ase and Insp swimming to the rockets, and Fish, Solar and d1sc pushing low. The cave was a fail, thanks to killerdud's iffy hammer, and XB sniped Fish down before he could get over the Gate. Fish's third run was more successful though, knocking hapless XB out on the beach with a secondary flak from the water, techniquing his way towards the boots and hopping to Second(S2) on 3:31, past no backdeffers at all. The reds were clearly more interested in frags, except that is for Pogo, who arrived at Second to chop Fish down as he reappeared, then took up position at the Door Pressure to climb the frag table alone inside.

There were too many reds on the bridge, especially since no-one was launching, and Pogo couldn't hold off all the low runners forever. It wasn't long before Solar got the Door Pressure and the blues pushed up en masse. Running into Riv's wall of spam, they changed their minds and tried outside, only to run into the likes of Twnz and Sphere in full launch protection mode. With the beach occupied the reds inside were able to push forward more, which made it unforgiveable that first Solar and then smant were able to sneak past and rush the Final through the base. Loco saved on Solar but he didn't see smant coming up behind him. Only when smant elected to hide under the stairs did Loco come down and shock him in the ear.

The blues gave up totally on the beach and rammed their way inside, d1sc getting the last word on the Final(S1) with his secondary flak. He was too quick for the reds as he ran up onto the bridge, down inside it and nicked Charge 4(P), and only Pogo got back in time to limit the damage. With 41 seconds remaining, this looked like it could be done, so long as Twnz stayed low on the beach to kill off the launches. No such luck though; all the reds were up and pushing to spam, Twnz climbing the frag count once more, with Pogo, DJ and Riv all close behind.

No-one on blue wanted to be last and there was still some motivation for them to grab more Charges before Ase started voting them out. Bottom of the table by some way was smant on a mere 2 frags, so he must have despaired when Insp backhammered past all the spam and nicked 1, 2 and 3 quick as a flash and with 10 seconds to go. Insp had enough hp for another backhammer to the Detonator, but Sphere blew him up just as he landed on it. Looked like they'd be defending in the next round again :crap: In the meantime, smant had gone a bit emo and won himself another 3 frags to reach a total of 5, two more than Farac, who had at least scored the Door Pressure objective. Riv reached a spree just as the map ended and made Twnz cry into his custard, since they were now joint top fraggers on 25. No Fish-style Godlikes for either though :trout:

-=-=-

RED IMMUNITY:Twnz(P)
ELIMINATED: XB - certainly hard on XB, whom I'd put at roughly joint third in the attack round. The fact that he got fewest frags with 12 in the second round was only owing to there being too many snipers outside, where he was trying to work. On the other hand, looking at the combined scores over both rounds, he was still the most obvious candidate.
TOP DEF FRAGS: Twnz / Riv - 25

BLUE IMMUNITY: d1sc(P)
ELIMINATED: Farac - nothing tactical about this, just another 'who had the lowest frags in the second round'. Could just as easily have been smant or Solar, who both did worse over both rounds.
TOP DEF FRAGS: Stylefish - 25

PERMANENT IMMUNITY: Stylefish

7v7: The Scarab
Primary: Win
Secondary: Hangar Doors > Enemy Base > Shield Control

-=-=-

ROUND 1 - RED ATTACK

Fish, smant, d1sc, Insp and Ase were all outside quickly to meet the first rush of reds. Twnz was trying to sneak right, while DJ headed uphill to the left, unseen by the blue defence. Riv was also getting creative, heading around the back right corner for some sneakage. Sphere managed to make it to the Shield Control within 30 seconds of the start, and shortly afterwards the Sniper tower was opened, to the relief of DJ who had been waiting for it since the beginning. He headed up the lift and was just in time to make it past the blue teles before two defenders came past, unaware. DJ duly got the Hangar Doors(S1) and the new spawn was open.

The reds were running riot and no-one on the blue defence could make up their minds where they wanted to be. Twnz made it quite far before killerdude cut him down with a minigun, but it was only 8:42 and already the attackers were arriving at the ship, with only Fishy getting some decent fragging in. While most of the reds headed low and right to attack the ship, Pogo went high with a belt he had found and he leapt gracefully onto the ship's roof. He stayed up there for eight eternities, not knowing what the hell to do next. DJ eventually joined him and we could see them typing "?" to each other  Solar finally figured out what was going on and hammered to the roof, only to be taken down by DJ.

Meanwhile, not knowing the map was proving something of an issue for the reds, since time after time a red player would run into the ship and attempt to hit the panel, only to find that nothing happened. Fable, kd and Solar were loving this, since it allowed them to climb the frag table. Solar got bored and went to the roof once more, attempting to d0ng DJ and instead just simply jumping off to his death, leaving DJ thinking "?" again. Pogo's crisis of confidence was showing no signs of letting up, and eventually d1sc got sick of his pointless hiding and comboed him to death. Pogo was up there for two minutes and hadn't achieved a thing

It was time for him to redeem himself and only 15 seconds later he had pushed through to the Ship's Engines. There was still the primary immunity up for grabs and it was finally Twnz who grabbed it, taking advantage of a massed push by his team to use his leet BT dodge skills and claim the win.

9044Shot0013.jpg

ROUND 2 - BLUE ATTACK

Well, I accused the reds of not knowing the map, but they certainly defended much more aggressively than the reds had. They knew all about the hill, for example, so when Fishy tried to do a DJ to the tower he ran into at least three reds on the right side, ready to mini him down. Going right was similarly hopeless, with Loco able to pick off Solar and Fish on his second run before they could disappear from view. A string of blue non-attacks ensued, with the reds shutting down everything. Some of the better enterprises involved sneaking, with smant heading waaay left, around the cliffs, only to arrive at a point where he was lost, stuck and uanble to hammer himself out of there :trout: Solar had better success, ending up on the roof of the base and jinking into the Sniper window. He couldn't put anything together before Twnz pistol-whipped him inside the base, but Insp had meanwhile secured the Shield Control(S3) and thus, temporarily, the immunity.

The blues all charged for the Base(S2) and it was again Insp who was the first there with a hammerjump. He ran up the ramp but backman Mym was on the scene with a minigun. He also finished hiding smant off easily, but Solar was one too many for him, Luckily, Twnz had turned up to take the frag. He was still 3 points under Loco, however, with a half a minute remaining and this was anyone's last possible chance to get the permanent red immunity for top def frags for three consecutive maps (since that immunity would be cancelled after the 5v5). Thoughts of immunities were also running through the blues' minds, since taking the Hangar Doors was their last chance to usurp Insp. That chance would not come, with nearly all the reds back on top of the ramp and the shock rifles fizzing.

RED IMMUNITY:Twnz(P)
ELIMINATED: Pogo - fair enough, wasted literally half the attack time by hiding on the ship roof, and scored a horrible 3 on def, next to Riv's sixth-placed 10.
TOP DEF FRAGS: Twnz - 16

BLUE IMMUNITY: Insp(S2)
ELIMINATED: Ase - yet another big mistake by the blues, just like losing Bn and m1cr0 earlier on. I don't know what this was based on, since Ase was top def fragger and second top attack fragger  Insp probably thought he was being "tactical" when he was merely being "testicle".

6v6: Ballistic
Primary: Warhead
Secondary: Generator > Main Gate

-=-=-

ROUND 1 - RED ATTACK

Riv absolutely owned the Lasers, allowing Loco and Sphere to set a double for Twnz to the Gate. Every one of the blues attacked him as he landed, with Fish getting the finishing touch. Everyone then headed to the hill, where Twnz set for Riv and then DJ. Riv made it over and typically feigned on top of the Generator room. Loco was also flying :flyer: and opted to drop to the Gate(S2) on 9:28, while DJ twatted about at the box health packs, having been spotted by the alert Fish. Fish did his job and Insp meanwhile spotted Loco trying to push through the Gate door - fail. Riv picked his moment as the ship blew up the wall to drop low and duck inside with only 25 hp. Fish was again ready for him and killed him with the sniper, still the only man on blue doing any work.

Only a few moments later we were watching first Mym and then Sphere taking flak launches over Fishy and kd's heads. Sphere totally stole the Generator(S1) from outside the room, in spite of Mym getting close enough to touch it and possibly claim his first immunity of the night. DENIED! Mym was not pleased, so much so that he shrieked "oi". Fish and d1sc were in the nest to fend off the early hammerjumpers, but Twnz had spotted the Genny going and was well inside even while Mym was hurling venomous abuse at Sphere. It took a frantic scramble by Fish to get all the way back to the Warhead to headshot on low running Twnz, only inches away from scoring the objective.

Red pushed low and high all at once, with kd staying at the back, aided by Insp, and the rest ranging out in front. DJ came very close by hammering into the nest and BTing around Insp's feet, then Sphere came even closer with a mixture of jumping and dodging and waving his arms. A few more red pushes and the Warhead(P) was under control, mainly owing to killerdude choosing the wrong moment to drop into the low tunnel to help d1sc, who really didn't need the help. Sphere came high with full armour and full vials, and the despairing Insp was the only one who spotted him duck round the corner and dodge onto the Warhead, even though Insp was all the way forward at the sniper nest entrance.

Practically every blue stayed back to either snipe the spawn or try to kill off Sphere, which they did but at the expense of leaving the final undefended. Twnz, Riv and Loco were there in record time, even before the laser field went down, and killerdude was just about the only blue in place. He did the right thing by comboing Twnz on the button just as the Ops Room was opened, but immediately afterwards Riv, Loco and DJ burst into the last room together, trying to get a now meaningless win. Solar and smant were back to help by now, with the other three blues posted missing, but everyone got in everyone else's way as Loco dodged onto the button from the middle to finish on 2:56. It would have been way less if not for Fish, by far and away blue's top fragger and only decent deffer.

9298Shot0015.jpg

ROUND 2 - BLUE ATTACK

Solar and smant set the usual Lasers launch for killerdude, Insp and d1sc, but kd was shot out of the air before he landed and Insp only hit one hammer for a total fail. The reds could push forward and begin fragging, leaving Mym to snipe from on top of the Gate. They knew full well that the blues had no hope of winning the map, or possibly even the immunity :boxing: and so their only concern was top frag spot. Twnz wanted it more than anyone, since he was on a streak of 1 after The Scarab and if he got another top spot in Balli he was one map away from an automatic place in the 3v3. By the 2 minute mark he had nearly double anyone else's frags and his place at the top seemed secure.

Not much more to say here, really. The blues could barely get out of their spawn as, once again, the reds' greater fragpower coupled with their far more aggressive style meant that the blues had no time or space to put any kind of plan together. Insp and, curiously, Riv were in the biggest trouble of all 12 players. Insp was either too focused on the strategic element of Survivor or he wasn't focused enough, ie. he was ignoring frags and heading straight for the Main Gate, while everyone else on blue slowly crept up the table, 1 point at a time. Insp had left himself little time to try and make up for this - he now needed to get the Gate or he was surely out  Riv also had problems, disconnecting some time after the 2 minute point and thereby losing all his frags, which were not inconsiderable. Unless someone on red saw sense come vote time, Riv would join Insp on the scrapheap through no fault of his own.

Fish breathed easy at 1:06; after going high and pulling off a series of running snipes, he sprinted towards the armour and the healthpack, past four blind reds defending on the far side and who hadn't been warned. Insp had just been dropped in it :scared: Fish also made it all the way through to the Genny wall, only to be hit full in the face by the ship's shockballs, as well as Twnz's minigun. With one minute to go Insp got frantic, trying everything to make it to the Genny. Riv was similarly distressed, totting up a pitiable 1 point. Still, however, only two frags behind Mym, who hadn't disconnected :P Feigning behind the boxes was d1sc, but he chose the wrong moment to pop out and challenge Loco's snipeification.

To wrap things up, Riv went into full shit-the-pants mode, going waaay forwards and hitting next to nothing for all his efforts. On 2 points with 10 seconds to go, he must have known it was all over. The news was better for Insp however, who had managed to rack up a score of 6 to put him in third place on the blue team. He thought his spot was secure; he thought wrong :banghead:

RED IMMUNITY:Sphere(P)
ELIMINATED: Riv - terribly unfair on Riv, thanks to his mid-round crash. He had been consistently good throughout the match, and even though the reds were still packed with fraggers it probably should have been lowest placed Mym instead. Sphere was unsympathetic though, and Riv was offski.
TOP DEF FRAGS: Twnz - 29

BLUE IMMUNITY: Stylefish(S2)
ELIMINATED: Insp - another fragger gone :( This was getting embarrassing and I don't see why Insp was picked at all, based on his scores.

5v5: Lavafort][
Primary: Win
Secondary: Fuse 1 > Lava Cave > Entrance Cave

-=-=-

NB: The immunities here were given in the match as "Fuse 1 > Lava Cave > Fort Reached", but since no-one was allowed to take the Fort by hammerjumping over or being launched this order was impossible. So, I'll assume html meant the Entrance Cave, though this was only important from the blues' perspective...

ROUND 1 - RED ATTACK

Sphere and Mym were off like greyhounds from the start, Mym reaching the Entrance(S3) almost immediately. Running beside him, Sphere got a hugely lucky rocket boost towards the Fuses, which made it easy for him to jump into the Lava Cave(S2) and take both Fuse 1(S1) and Fuse 2 at the same time, unopposed. He re-emerged to meet d1sc's sniper bullet coming the other way, and the struggling blues arranged themselves in front of the Fort while the doors slowly opened. Solar and kd were the only ones doing decent damage, but it was up to high deffing Solar to flak Twnz in the face as the red player collected pads, armour and vials and attempted to jump up the side wall.

It was again Sphere who ducked through the Fort doors and brought smant down with a rocket spread, then camped the tele until the lift came back across. He made it to the far end and took on killerdude's flakkage, but before he could hammerjump over the railings Fish pulled off another great sniper save from above the gates :sniper: Just moments later, DJ sneaked past unnoticed and set up a ripper shot - the blades kept flying and I think kd at the back must have assumed it was a miss. It wasn't and DJ finished on 1:19, another huge fail by the blues.

219Shot0017.jpg

ROUND 2 - BLUE ATTACK

I use the word 'attack' in its loosest sense, as this was a tragedy. None of the blues are noobs, yet the best they could do in ine minute and nineteen seconds was kd hitting the Entrance Cave. Just shows how imba the teams totally were by now. God knows what would have happened if no-one on blue had won the immunity, but nvm. They also thought they were attacking with only 4, but they weren't, it was just the Gold bug again.

With his potential permanent immunity in mind, Twnz pushed like a hungry hippo trying to move a tree out of the way so it could reach a cheese toasty :flame: He brought out every weapon in the book and downright spammed the blues' landing site with everything he had. He quickly clambered up to 9 points, but with ten or so seconds to go he wasn't climbing any higher! And then lo! Sphere and his six points turn up, he whips out his minigun and claims three easy minirapes in a row, sending Twnz into something of a froth :lol::lol:

RED IMMUNITY:DJ(P)
ELIMINATED: Mym - definitely the right choice, in two rounds Mym had managed one objective (Entrance Cave) and -1 frags :fingers: You are the weakest link! No-one was allowed to change their skins back yet though; the event mascot lived on in spirit
TOP DEF FRAGS: Twnz / Sphere - 9

Fury? Twnz has it :shout:

BLUE IMMUNITY: killerdude(S3)
ELIMINATED: d1sc - joint bottom on def in the first round, but his name was hidden by the Gold bug on the attack, so kd couldn't see what his points were and just automatically booted him for the sake of it. Harsh? Nope, I happen to know he got zero points, putting him just under Fish's 1. Another blue 'fragger' gone though.
TOP DEF FRAGS: Solar - 6

Primary: Win
Secondary: Samsite > Scud > Bunker

-=-=-

Sphere, Loco, DJ and Twnz vs. Stylefish, smant, Solar and killerdude...

!abortpug

Furthermore, was all forgiven between Twnz and Sphere? Stay tuned.

ROUND 1 - RED ATTACK

Not the most incredible Bunker(S3) attack the world has ever known, but since only smant and Fish bothered to go forward to spam it, it was pretty easy for Loco to grab it after watching Twnz kill himself. Meanwhile, killerdude was creating his own problems under the belt, first hammering to it and totally missing it, then suiciding for more hp, then hammering off his own corpse for a double fail. Having done all that, he watched helplessly as Twnz expertly side hammered up to the Scud(S2) on 9:33, Fishy having been too distracted by the nearby Sphere. Twnz took all the non-suiciding blues down and then suicided himself - no-one on red seemed to have noticed the absence of belt wearing blues around the Scud.

Next, Loco and Twnz set for Sphere but the blues were all over the launch and the reds pushed out on foot. Frontmen smant and kd were taken out quickly and Twnz skipped to the low ramp, past frantic Solar and kd again, who were having trouble rocket spamming. Twnz was in, but only as far as last man Fish, who dropped him with more rockets. The blues were all too far back, packed into the last room, and when DJ followed Twnz's death almost immediately by dodging his way through, he had the Samsite(S1) in the bag on the 8:56 mark.

Three of the blues got in position at the end of the tunnel, but Solar stayed back to try to kill off any red launches. Needless to say he failed, and Loco set an undeffed single hammer for Twnz on the left side which worked perfectly, winning the reds the new spawn in only 13 seconds. From then on it was panic stations for the blues, unable to rely on sheer fragpower and unsure of who, what or where. The belt was taken by smant, while the others fannied around outside. The blues were holding it together mainly because of Fish, putting in most of his team's fragging. A couple of last second saves from low were next up, but then Sphere went high and twodged killerdude en route, although he then proceeded to fanny around a bit to increase the time :P ERROR!

Finally, he, DJ and Twnz all arrived at once from different angles. Solar wasn't helping by choosing the Rock Passage tele after all the reds were already past, but the important thing is that it was Twnz who took the Win(P), dodging onto it from high on 2:22 before rocket spamming smant could react. Way to lose the immunity, Sphere  Self pwnt again! Had Sphere thought to take the win and gain the immunity, DJ or Loco would have been the ones in danger, since Twnz was exempt until the 3v3. Letting Twnz take it was a big mistake :P

7467Shot0019.jpg

ROUND 2 - BLUE ATTACK

The blues made it to the Bunker(S3) quickly, in spite of the reds' more positive defence approach, and only a few seconds later Loco chose the wrong time to dodge to the right, as smant was coming up from the left, winning the Scud(S2) with ease. Not being killerdude, DJ had made it to the belt with no problems, but he had to let it go when the blues got their new spawn.

A perfect door launch was either not spotted or not defended by the reds, sending killerdude soaring over their heads to take the Samsite(S1) probably as quickly as it's possible to do on 1:27, less than a minute after the map had started. DJ snd Sphere opted not to suicide, instead causing the blues some trouble as the redeemers came down. Fish got rid of both of them but by that time Twnz and Loco were well inside the tunnel, prepared to deal with smant's side hammer launch.

Things stopped working for the blues after this, even with still over a minute to go. Needless suicides, no running rocket launches, lots of snipe and rocket spam from the reds. The Underground was taken at the last possible second by killerdude, but this didn't matter as he had already earned immunity by hitting the Samsite.

-=-=-

RED IMMUNITY:Twnz(P)
ELIMINATED: Sphere - there would have been a case for voting Sphere off anyway, but I think this was based on the whole Lavafort][ frags thing. Twnz does not forget and he does NOT forgive

BLUE IMMUNITY: killerdude(S3)
ELIMINATED: Solar - not much argument here, Solar got 5 points in total over both rounds. You might argue that it was Solar who helped send kd to the Sam for the immunity, but smant helped in that launch too and he earned more points overall.

3v3: Vampire
Primary: Win
Secondary: Door Lock > Water Wheel > Barricade

-=-=-

You may have noticed a pattern emerging throughout this match, something to do with the fact that the overall match score was now 9-1 to the reds. The blues managed to turn this one around for a change, but the important thing is: who would make it through to the 2v2? Even Fish was no longer safe :uhh:

ROUND 1 - RED ATTACK

First to the Barricade(S3) was Loco. The blues no longer had the fragpower to even spam properly, so kd and smant fell back to the Water Wheel, leaving Fish up front alone to snipe from a roof. Twnz foolishly headed directly to the Switch, but Loco had the right idea, sneaking all the way down to the Wheel without smant even noticing him, and leaving kd to make a last second combo save. Fish was doing some nice sniping up front and kd came up to help him. Alone at the back, smant was not having to worry about Twnz or DJ, who both brilliantly kept running up to the Switch and touching it, wondering why nothing was happening  Leet, my arse.

Only Loco was being sensible, but he kept getting caught between smant and kd at the water. Maybe if he'd stopped and typed "follow me ffs!" the reds might have gotten things done quicker. Twnz finally got the idea and, helped by a wayward shock from Fish, ended up down at the bridge. Thing is, he had run out of ammo and was forced to charge at smant with a loaded hammer :tank: And there was much failage. DJ was right behind him though, and he blew smant up with rox at point blank range, leaving himself with only 7hp but an easy dodge to the Water Wheel(S2).

Still on nil points, Twnz was now free to give that Switch thing another try, attempting to running launch Loco on the way. Loco got taken down, Twnz got taken down, but DJ was approaching from the opposite side and... got taken down. Backman killerdude struck  With all three blues back they were able to get a panoramic view of the battlefield and any approaching reds, so it took a combined effort from all three to put Twnz and DJ at the Switch simultaneously. Being a Bunny Tracker, Twnz nicked it from under DJ's nose, but don't worry, DJ, it's not an immunity :D

It didn't occur to Fish to suicide, so backmen smant and kd were left to plasma three reds with lingering spawn protection. They were doing pretty well for a while, but all three reds attacked in a pincer and Loco got the last shot on the Door Lock(S1). DJ had the bright idea of running up a dark, dead end tunnel, thus removing all hope he had of gaining the vote, since Twnz was busy powering up his plasma and pwning his way up the last ramp to take the Chains(P) on 2:54.

"Hp?"
"1"

5588Shot0021.jpg

ROUND 2 - BLUE ATTACK

Well, only by doing a simple thing like knowing the map would Fish and co. be able to claim a long-awaited blue win. The only other one had been in Manticore, and that was a warmup :whatever: Of course, the reds now did know the map, having recently been forced to learn it the hard way, so presumably they would now know where to defend and where not to?

They certainly spammed the Barricade(S3) well after smant got it open, and it took a while for kd to get very lucky and find a gap in the :spam:, dodging right and through the side tunnel. Unfortunate then that Fish had had a stroke. Of good fortune. He found himself being accidentally pinged all around the cliff from someone else's rockets, and with some hiding and dodging he was able to evade the chasing reds and grab the Water Wheel(S2) on 2:11. The reds were all over the place and only Loco immediately spotted the fact that none of the blues had suicided and that there wasn't much point in spamming the first spawn any more. The blues all died anyway and smant briefly tried to set a rocket launch for Fish from the cliff, only for both to be potted by DJ.

Twnz was at the back but unable to find any weapons stronger than pistols, but he got lucky when smant took Loco down and Loco dropped his shock rifle. Twnz reacted quicker and used it to kill off smant with a combo. The reds then got a bit dumb, not questioning why they were only killing smant and kd, but not Fish. Turns out Fish was finding armour on top of rocks, stealing healthpacks from harmless pigs :pig::cuddle: and sneaking his way to the Switch on 1:05. Still time!

Twnz suicided, respawned and found a sniper rifle, and used it to prevent Fish from sneaking through the gate. The reds were still too slow to learn though, and kd was way ahead, at the keg in fact, when he took the jump-pad and hit the Door Lock(S1) before last man Twnz could do anything about it. So, kd was safe even if the blues couldn't finish, but he managed to go one better. With the reds looking at each other in bafflement, he managed to steadily work his way up to the Chains(P) with 28 seconds to go.

BLUE IMMUNITY:killerdude(P)
ELIMINATED: smant - fair, Fish had more points in both rounds and the only objective smant could come up with on attack was the only undefended one :trout:

RED IMMUNITY:Twnz(P)
ELIMINATED: Loco - Twnz picked DJ, probably based on def frag count, which makes sense because DJ had 13 while Loco had only 4.

2v2: Map 1 - Ballistic

-=-=-

With all immunities now null and void, we had a basic 2v2 on our hands. First team to three maps would win the entire event. But, let's face it, the match was over, and probably had been from quite early on.

ROUND 1 - BLUE ATTACK

The fact that the blues had somehow won the previous map meant that they would attack this one, which illustrated quite clearly how imbalanced things had become between red and blue. Had they defended first the event would have been over several minutes sooner, but as it was we witnessed a depressing trudge. A nice early rock launch for Fish aside (which only got him killed as he landed), the blues struggled to put anything together in the face of two of the best snipers in the community. I was bored, html was bored, Ban was bored and I'm sure everyone else was, particularly the players. An even slightly imbalanced pug can cause flames and outrage, so imagine what this was like. The Lasers went, the Gate went surprisingly early, and the Generator eventually went at the hands of kd, after a hill launch got shot down and Fish took advantage of the defence gap to take the Main Gate tele. The Gen popped with 30 seconds to go :\ The End.

ROUND 2 - RED ATTACK

This wasn't all bad: the start def lasted a good two minutes, but finally the Genny went and the Warhead was quick to follow, thanks to DJ watching Twnz's arse and getting double kills and stuff. Finally, the Ops Room was hit and Fish half fell for it, so when kd was taken down in the centre Twnz was able to jump into the final room and send Fish back to the ocean :fish: with some rockets to take an easy win on 2:59.

2v2: Map 2 - Lavafort][

-=-=-

ROUND 1 - RED ATTACK

Order had been restored and the blues' only hope was to pick enclosed, non-snipey sorts of maps. This didn't faze DJ and Twnz much, since kd abandoned his better position on top of the Fort wall to run into the cave and unload his rockets, only to be brought down by Twnz. Fish got a piece of DJ, but Twnz hammered past, on his way to the Fuses. Had Fish not picked up the sniper rifle Twnz would definitely have taken both Fuses, but Fish made it into the cave just as Twnz was about to dodge through the Fuses room door - headshot!

Some more spam up front but the blues died at the wrong time and both Twnz and DJ made it over. Fish and kd had to fall back and defend the lift, and when Twnz took it across and met a combo in the face, DJ had time to return to the same ripper spot he had employed in the previous Lavafort][ and send some blades to the Generator to take the map on 1:38 :ripper:

ROUND 2 - BLUE ATTACK

With Twnz defending the cave with a sniper rifle (as the front defender), DJ was doling out the combos from behind and the blues had a right to be pissed off at the way this was going. Some luck almost came kd's way when he all but hammered over the wall, but it failed at the crucial moment. Towards the end both Fish and kd got off some nice looking hammers at the same time, but neither made it :( And with kd getting only 1 frag over both rounds... Game over, man! Game over!

2v2: Map 3 - Desertstorm

ROUND 1 - RED ATTACK

The only bright spot for the blues here was perhaps kd's Samsite save on DJ, who surely thought he had it on the first speedrun. KABOOM! Twnz was right behind him though, and kd's head came off as Twnz dodged onto it at the 8:45 mark. DJ didn't take long to snag the Underground and, one or two nice blue frags aside, it was DJ again who ran up the left and low to take the win versus no backdeffers. The reds' movement was just far superior, not just their shooting :sniper: 6 frags for each blue, not a terrible frag count in that time, but the time itself was terrible.

ROUND 2 - BLUE ATTACK

One minute to go and still no Scud. Now ask yourself this: do you really want me to continue? Good.

3 - 0 ....... Twnz and DJ are the Survivor #3 Champions! :thumb:

-=-=-

So, congratulations to Twnz and DJ, both totally deserved the win and the money, even if they and everyone else deserved a better 2v2 final. Commiserations to Stylefish and kd, both of whom showed why they had a right to survive as long as they did

My 2 minute montage of Twnz and DJ's 2v2 attacks

Screens and hopefully videos to follow tomorrow or Thursday, as well as the winner of the Funniest Moment Award (10 euros) :P

Thanks for reading!

I think that was fair enough considering he nicked my immunity objective :shout:

12v12 was really laggy and unplayable though :(

Didnt notice any difference between 12v12 and 5v5 except for the amount of spam of course :flack:
