As I was going to St. Ives
I met a man with seven wives
Each wife had seven sacks,
Each sack had seven cats,
Each cat had seven kits.
Kit, cats, sacks, wives,
How many were going to St. Ives

its the same riddle as that

Answer is 1

As I was going to St. Ives

The answer is language as bluey says first, but Damo has used the version of the riddle which is always floating about on the net and is incorrect cos it doesnt make sense :p:

There are three words in the English language that end in "gry"

This phrase, taken literally, specifically tells you that you are looking for a word ending in "gry" which isn't true. The intention of the riddle is to only make you think you are looking for a word ending in "gry" when it has actually already told you the answer.

The correct version reads:

Think of words ending in -GRY. Angry and hungry are two of them. There are only three words in the English language. What is the third word?

The word is something that everyone uses every day. If you have listened carefully, I have already told you what it is."

Thus although implying you are looking for a word ending in "gry" it actually specificaly tells you what you are really looking for straight out!

And yes, before you say it, I am a sad bastard

thats riddles shit

woulda been better if

'there are only 3 words in "the english language"' ie could only get three words out of T-H-E-E-N-G-L-I-S-H-L-A-N-G-U-A-G-E. Now THAT woulda been good, but obviously u cant get nagry and hungry :o

ok heres one . ..

"think mathematically, wots the next number in the sequence
31 ... 28 ... 31 ... 30 ... 31 ... ???"

Im pretty sure ive said it wrong, but me maths lecturer at uni did it and the way he laid it out took me ages to see
