The 32-bit version doesn't support more than 3 GB RAM, including gfx card memory.

Clarifying-

By default XP's limit is 4Gb, which is split by 2Gb for Apps and 2Gb for Kernel; you can add the /3g switch in boot ini to split that to 3Gb for Apps and 1Gb for Kernel.

XP 64-bit supports up to 128 Gb of RAM.

Don't forget to knock off your Graphics Card memory, which is often 1/2 Gb+

What graphics card(s) are you running Phil? The amount of physical memory taken is exactly the memory of your card, plus about 128k for CGA/EGA buffers, a bit more if you're using AGP instead of PCI. Plus other MMIO cards will add a bit here and there, but no-where near 2Gb, unless you're running an SLI setup with 768Mb on each card ofc :P

I should've mentioned also that using the /3GB switch is actually quite useless since most applications don't notice the change in arrangement.
