Casino Royale, the 21st film in the EON-produced James Bond series stars Daniel Craig as the new James Bond, Eva Green as the new Bond girl. This film tries to go back to the beginning of Bond which potentially makes the plot confusing, but I thought overall it was a good film.

Who's seen it? What do you think of the new Bond? What do you think of the film?

(PS: allow me to be the first to say that Eva Green is teh hawt seckz and definitely the best bond girl yet)

Very good movie,

I think just for the look Brosnan looked more like a "James Bond" but still Craig did a very nice job and the movie in itself have an interesting storyline compared to the last 4 James Bond....

and yes Eva Green is kinda hawt, mb not the hottest JB Girl but she's hawt (see below)

Imo the hottest bond girl physically was Triple-X from The Spy Who Loved Me (and ye, I've seen all EON Bond films except Octopussy, all 20 and Never Say Never Again, where Domino def. gives every other girl a run for the money.

Eva Green's acting was spectacular, Casino Royale has the best acting of any bond movie imo. The dialogue between Vesper Lynd (Green) and Bond was phenomenal I think and that's what makes her so attractive.

Anyways, spoiler time:

[shock]At first I thought Daniel Craig was far too much of a thug. Needs more class like Roger Moore.

WHERE THE FUCK ARE THE BOND GADGETS? A FUCKING DEFIBRILATOR SHAPED LIKE A STOPSIGN IS NOT A MUTHERFUCKING BOND GADGET!!

I'm sorry? James Bond didn't kill the villian? Good game.

Only 4 action scenes 2 minutes long each? I'm sorry, I thought the movie was 2 hours long.

If I wanted to watch the world series of poker I'd tune into some un-loved ESPN channel.

My BIGGEST Disappointment is that they put July 6th 2006 on tapes. NO Bond film should ever have the year in it unless it's discussing a bottle of wine.

Oh, aside from that I liked the movie... I think Eva Green did a great job as Vesper Lynd and in my mind makes the best Bond girl to date. The plot was pretty good, much thicker than other Bond films and the interaction between Bond and Lynd was impeccable. I think that's the first time I remember him saying "I love you" in a movie and meaning it, it's the second time he resigns in a movie, third where he's been terminated from the service (License to Kill he was fired, On Her Majesty's Secret Service he resigned). The only thing I didn't like plot-wise was that they under-developped Le Chiffre as a villian, didn't make him seem all that bad, but when you analyze it and realize this is Bond's first big mission, that doesn't seem too bad. He's not going to be saving the world when he is first given 00 status.

I don't think James Bond should never be allowed to wield a weapon larger than a pistol. I don't like how the movie concluded either and the fact that Lynd dies is upsetting although plot-wise impressive. This movie reminds me a lot of On Her Majesty's Secret Service for some reason. Probably because Bond resigns and the girl gets killed. This film took a lot of risks I think, but in the end I actually walked out extremely satisfied, I loved it.

Oh and for the record this film had the best acting of any Bond film.

Bond also is shown taking more running steps than walking.

One last thing:
JAMES BOND WENT TO CAMBRIDGE NOT OXFORD WHAT THE FUCK!! [/shock]

I thought it was mildly entertaining but generally not impressed:

Felt like just another generic action film now with a muscley dude....bit like a Arnie film now.

The charm, style, whit, etc has all gone replaced by a "more real" character

The escapism is gone as now James gets his ass kicked, makes mistakes, bleeds.

Stunning Bond girls have gone replaced by a more PC semi-attractive girl who is clever and aggressive.

More male than female nudity. WTF its a bond film......is nothing sacred!

Plot is unimaginative and paper thin - bit like the shower scene are pathetic - its just stuck in there.....you can almost hear the writers saying "mmmm how can we make him more human - ahhhh a cuddle in the shower....with clothes"

You get a strong - WOMEN ARE STRONG AND CLEVER TOO message all through the film....christ that's so 90's can't us boys even keep the bond films fs. Just some little think tank trying to keep the film PC to make sure it doesn't bomb and keep it going for another bond film.

Gadgets are gone.

UBER UBER PRODUCT PLACEMENT IN UR FACE ALL THE TIME ----- FORD FORD FORD SONY SONY SONY OMEGA OMEGA OMEGA.

so in summary.....perhaps more realistic and like the books but just another generic action film now with all the bond magic gone replaced by boring, (unattractive), predictable and falable characters with a thin and boring plot.

Much more like an Arnie film such as Commando than Goldfinger.

Wgo was the guy he shot at the end? how did he and le chiffre ever meet in the story?
like darren said paperthing plot

Ye like I said, THE BEST BOND GADGET WAS A FUCKING DEFIBRILATOR SHAPED LIKE A STOPSIGN!? :gay:

And I was pissed that Bond was cought driving a Ford. :gay: :gay: :gay: That's like having a racecar driver drive a horse and buggy :gay:

Havent seen the film yet but if the reviews are right and this is a return to a more down to earth grittier Bond then good.Lets see some blood.

Sean Connery made the best Bond yet by far imo. Enough of those stupid gadgets that get more and more ridiculous with each film :gay:. Lets see some bruised knuckles for a change.

Casino Royale was the first and iirc one the of the grittiest books by Flemming runined by that dumb 60's farce.

The only gadgets you need are a Walther PPK and an Aston Martin DB6 so fo

Ye, well sorry to ruin the film for you but instead of an Aston Martin he's caught driving a Ford :gay:mobile.

To be honest I liked the gadgets. Some of the stuff they had in Q branch were just sweet. Some were lame but I think the majority were pretty good. I don't like how the only gadget he uses is a defibrilator. That's pretty lame.

He also really doesn't drive a car. The car he drives most (for maybe like 30 seconds) is a Ford. He goes for a 10 second spin in his main Bond car in Montenegro and totals that, but the point is he drives a Ford and that's absolutely gay.

aye cos fords r teh sux

Many people I have spoken to have said that they were generally disappointed with the movie.

I'm glad that it was sold out when I went to try and see it... Ended up seeing Tenacious D instead which was a good laugh. :thumb:

I think the plot was pretty decent , except for the under-developed villian.. made things interesting and the acting was better than most Bond films which made it enjoyable. It also wasn't the same old sequence of events like most Bond films: "Bond wraps up an old mission, has a girl, gets called by M, throws his hat onto hat hanger, meets M, flirts with moneypenny, meets villian in a casual setting, viliian threatens life, Bond meets Bond girl, Bond kills villian, Bond and Bond girl have sex, M finds out." The thing they fucked up on most was trying to go back to the beginning of Bond and putting the fucking date on that surveilance tape.

i think he was 10x the bond pierce brosnan was.

Liked the movie aswell, atleast better than the previous 4 =)

and a real 67 shelby 500 gt never looked pimped like that ... though i prefer the original to elenor :)

I think Casino Royale was a good film not great and not in the same style as previous bonds but i dont think thats a bad thing .. the bond from the books was nothing like the one in the films he was far darker and a bit fucked tbh .. i liked it and i hope that they keep the next in the same style to re establish the films as somthing differnt.

ye mushy Goldeneye ftw. Goldeneye 64 ftw btw.

I sort of liked the less-structured and predictable plot like I've said, but I wish there were more gadgets. Those made it cool.

Go get the Sean Connery Bond films on DVD.....now there's pwnage Bond films. :chainsaw: :)

I went to see CR on Sunday, and I'd agree with Foxy about the product placement, although he also forgot to mention the GREAT BIG 'VIRGIN' PLANES AT MIAMI AIRPORT AND THE CAMEO BY RICHARD BRANSON!

The real disappointment for me was not so much the film, but going to a 16:10 showing at my local cinema, but not actually getting to see the start of the film until 17:00, during which time more people kept coming in right up until 16:50 as the cinema was obviously still selling tickets for a film which ostensibly started 40 minutes earlier.

So, packed cinema hall and being forced to sit through 50 minutes of the most unimaginative, boring, pish adverts before you get to see the film. And all because the cinema knows they've got a captive audience because "everyone goes to see a bond film".
