FreeInternet!!!!!...Nice tip opti...LOL
hummm thefreeinternet.com
I saw the add on telly. Only supports Windows/NT....Got to use dialer..(arghh!) Kicked without refund for ANY commercial use (like so many have recently) and also for 'excessive use' (usually an excuse to kick high users).
To give you a flavour of what subscribers think I have taken the first 3 comment in the Net4Nowt web site posted today:
TFi really are the worst ISP I have ever had the unfortune of subscribing too. They con you out of your money then give you the most inadequate, inept and unreliable service known to man. If these people where in America they would have been banned and sued from one end of the county to the other. They are a sham, a con and a bunch of lying bastards and if you believe them you need your head seeing too. DONT USE EM FOR FUCKS SAKE THEY'RE A CON
Keep well away. The worst ISP I have ever used, it's not unusual to have to try 100 times to get a connection. They force you to use a dialler program to connect, which you can't minimise. The dialler program is there to hide the 0800 number, I don't know why they are so paranoid about people knowing what it is. The final nail in their coffin is that they have just started adding an advert for themselves at the top of every email that you send.
Once you're on it's pretty much fine - maybe 1 in 10 connections falls or is hopeless. However, at peak times be prepared to dial up to 20 times to get connected. And sometimes an hour just isn't enough - try downloading 99% of an anti-virus program before losing the entire thing...
I think that says it all!. There are satisfied posts but many not.
Lets get real shall we. RHA as the last remaining cheapo service (ie around £100 per annum) going down shows that offering 24/7 Internet access at that level does not work as a business...
Possibly better are the about to be released FRIACO delas from Freeserve/ BT from £14.99 but I hear that they will inherently have overloading probs etc...and just check out Freeserves track record!!!!!
In 2001 if you want a decent GAMERS 24/7 you will be paying around £25 like netgames-uk or madasafish etc. Who the hell wants 1 hour cut offs, kicking without refund etc etc.
Personally I would not pay an annual fee again. Monthly at least limits your loss and means you can move if the service degrades.
And £25/ month works out around 80p a day!...that can't be bad for a proper service without the redials etc etc. Look also at the cost of BT Surftime services the same if not more and it is @#%$!!!!! especially for gamers.
And ADSL is available now and cable well worth checking (not for us rednecks in the Wiltsire countryside though
until 2002/3).
My fingers are crossed for Peebe
