i told him to get the servicepack 1, but when he tries to install it it says invalid product key :x

duuude, help him please! :D

edit: he tried to partition his drive with partition magic before, now it only shows up as a 32 gb partition o_O

warez xp eh?... ;)

- he should check the jumpers on the hd itself
and how does his bios detect it? if necessary he'll has to fill in the details bout the hd manually

Tell him to go Control Panel>Adminstrative Tools>Computer Management>Disk management u can easily check the partition size and format from there :p

no need for partition wankage... :p

Most (all?) Hard drives of this sort of size have a jumper that limit the drive to 32GB, thats probably teh first thing you want to check.

If thats ok, then go and check what disk management says on Windows XP. This can be found....

Control panel > Performance and maintenance > administrative tools > computer managment then the disk managment tab.

This will show whats dirvers are connected, there sized, etc... Will look something like this
