Webdesign

  • Hey - turns out IRC is out and something a little more modern has taken it's place... A little thing called Discord!

ON-TOPIC: i can't seem to frame on a blank page  under the option 'Frames' the only option i can click is 'open page in new window'

so first of all, how to make a frame?

(i'm trying DreamWeaver tomorrow, maybe that'll bring some luck, Microsoft Frontpage 2003 is giving me an asskicking time with tables...)

To rest of all who tried helping me, thank you...

please use Dreamweaver! it's so much easier to create frames in it and a website made of tables. If u want to add frames on your website (while using Dreamweaver), go to Insert -> Html -> Frames.

offtopic: if sausje is allowed to "steal" (in other words copy) the website and redesign it, why are u even bothering to say he's stealing it? if the guy from that shop has no problems with it, i don't see a point why he can't use the frames and table lay-out as a basic for his own website.

that's a sort of advice i like ;)

can i use tables or something then? the length and width isn't really important (i'll design my logo and image later), but what is import that i can scroll in mid area....

like this
Code:
_______________
I|[U] Logo Space[/U]
M|[I]Scroll Area[/I]
A|[I]Scroll Area[/I]
G|[I]Scroll Area[/I]
E|[U][I]Scroll Area[/I][/U]__
[U]E|[/U]______[U]Menu[/U]___
thank you
This is the lay out u wanted ?
If download teh files from here

Btw add me to msn

which part didn't you get when i said i was creating my own logo/image?
Making your own logo/image has nothing to do with making your own website, it's totally something else.
and besides that you don't even know the work i have to do...
I'm sure it doesnt involve stealing/copying someone's work to then claim as your own.

i have to make a website of my own...
Then do so without stealing/copying. Stealing/copying != making.
but it has to do something with something i like (piercings in this case)... i have to bring the same message as the site i'll recreate (in my case, that's www.tribaltrading.nl ), but yet put my own twist in it...
I guess stealing/copying could be considered as your own twist, right?

so why are you even bothering replying to this thread?
Because I want to.

if that's stealing, for fucking sake, then forums.utassault.net is... how many forums are there on the web, i never heared you bothering martz or someone because these forums are o so copy of vBulletin...
Afaik all this is licensed or so which means Martz is paying for this. So the comparison doesn't add up.

next time please think befor you talk, you're starting to talk like my gf... kthxbai
If I would be talking like your gf I would keep ranting on about penis enlargements and viagra.

Yup, we invested in the vBulletin "owned" licence quite a few years ago, cost us about £100 and £30 per year for support and updates.

Yeah and to add, there are loads of free/public domain templates that you can use to achieve what you want. OK people are saying how lame it is to steal the code from a site. However, a lot of it is very similar between sites - imo theres nothing wrong with ripping someones site to understand how it works rather that to actually reuse it and pass it off as your own.

Other peoples images and artwork should never be copied, unless they are free from copyright as stated by the author. There are some nice free icon sets out there you can legally use if you search around.

HTML for frames and things can be found in so many tutorials. Web design is progressive learning - and there is no quick solution to learn everything instantly.

I fear my remarks may fall onto deaf ears though.

Its fine to rip a site and study the code, but its lame to copy a site and use its design, content, etc. Start learning basic HTML and you can build a site yourself. If you can't be bothered to do that, then thats your loss. Otherwise get a company to build it for you. And lol @ "there are more forums on the internet, never bothered Martz"
That wasnt a serious comment was it?

offcourse not  :p:

but why would i start designing my own website which i wanted to look exactly like tribaltrading.nl?
i got the authority to copy, the images & logo, text that i want to use in it... if i WOULD have the knowledge to do it on my own (which obviously i don't) i would end up with the exact same page now wouldn't i?

did your mum used to tell you to make and buy your own dinner... because you can LEARN how to cook, and it's stupid to just take it out of your mam's cookingpans... and it's not that expensive so you should buy it on your own?

and your teacher told you that you should go home and start reading/writing without you ever hold a pen? because it's cheap to take the alphabet which was created by someone else...

i guess not huh?

so why can't i use a website, which i may by the owner... It's not that i'll be making money out of it, now will I? it's not even gonna be published on the net...
so thanks all people who are so kind to help people with education, not...

only Dirz, Zombie, CK, XB7 and Neph have been so kind to help me in some way...

I think the main point is that you are avoiding work for something which may backfire on you later.
You mentioned that being able to make such a thing is important for your current school, and will be even more important in your next school/education, so why not take the time to educate yourself?

I really hate to sound like a parent-figure, because that's simply not me, but going further than others is what will give you an edge in life. If you avoid learning stuff for a future education now, it will come back at you and you still won't be much more ready for it than you are now.

This isn't just my ass talking either, I worked a lot on my interests and talents in high-school, and when I picked my college-education it matched those interests and talents, and that has made my life a lot easier. Some of my fellow-students spend days studying for stuff I already know more about than the teachers themselves! The past period in college I have been able to focus my attention to more ''important'' stuff which will be useful in the future, such as learning a new language and working on some new skills which I may need in the future, or even working to get some cash for things to come.

In high-school I worked on my English comprehension, video-editing, photo-editing, and also the basics of webdesign. All these things came back to me in college at some point, and so far I'm having plenty of spare time to work on exploring the horizon.

Once again, I don't want to sound like some all-knowing wise-ass, but there is a lot you can do now which will help you out in the future, and ultimately give you a very rewarding feeling.

i know what you mean... but let me tell you what i'm going to do for school next year
next year i'll do the study Communication.. I'm going to study Advertisiment, with accent on Art/Multi-Media Design... i've allready contacted that school... the task i have to do now i've explained above...
but the school won't look at code and stuff (they told me).... they look more at things like logo, images and if the text is interesting to read...

when i'm Bachelor of MMD... i must come up with ideas and make scetches (2D,3D,4D) for advertisements... when i'm going for Master of MMD, i should make this on my own... but that's in about 4/5 years, so i'll have enough time to study for coding and stuff (i allready started a cursus Java, with BlueJ...)

That's also why this won't come on the internet... i can just make it whatever i like... .jpeg .gif .xml .html

but since i want to use the scrolling part, i can only use .xml and .html (and offcourse many other .xhtml and that stuff) but my knowledge goes to .html, and it even that much knowledge as you may have found out :p:
so that's why i think it won't backfire on me too, because i don't have to use it the next 4 years (and maybe i'm not even going for my Master degree)...

so it's about Lay-out.. now what's inside :)

hopefully you'll understand now

Your totally comparing apples with eggs  Too funny to read really, so much trying to excuse yourself for anything. Well if the builder of the site gave u permission to use his site design and code then theres nothing wrong with it :)
