Revenge of the god damn MOUSELAG !! heeeeelp *Fixed it :)*

Man this is so friggin annoying.

First I had a geforce 2 gts, played UT in d3d and experienced the infamous mouselag issues. That problem I solved eventually.

Then I upgraded to a radeon 9600 pro and was forced to tweak and tweak and play the game in opengl bcos the d3d wouldnt work with that card.

And now I have upgraded to the X800XT and guess what !!! Now the opengl doesnt work properly (I get theese weird black small squares covering the whole of the screen). And if I play in D3D i get horrible fps and mouselag !

Any one know how to fix either opengl or d3d mouselag? (tried vsync in game and on card and tried direct input)
And does any one remember what causes fps to drop from like 60 to 25 just by having even the tiniest bit of water on screen?

I belive there was some more setting that I changed in the past to 100% successfully get rid of the mouse lag but I cant remember what it was.

Well if any one have any idea on what to do .... feel free to post :)

Lo Gurk m8. I have to change my video drivers if i play ut nowadays.

I put it down to the age of the game. Doesnt take too long and worth it imo.

First of turn off aa/af in your gfx card options in windows also make sure vsync is set to always off 9 in opengl section ).

and try these settings -

consider an nvidia next time. ATIs are stated to work badly with the opengl renderer on the respective site of the developer.

Oh its the Ati v Nvidia bashing, great.

No problems here, in fact i havent had a single pc crash or graphics problems in either d3d or open gl since having it.

I would suggest using paa's setting. I would also update the opengl renderer to the latest one, here is mine, not sure its latest but works fine for me.

Hope that helps!

well since i use paa settings ... my ut is alot better ... and it just dont crashs ...

So well ... i have to agree with MCneil ... its a question of updating ogl and use correct settigs...

Yeh i forgot to mention lol use the opengl renderer from mindspring.

just read a couple of recent updates and pay attention to the notes on ATI driver preformance on HIS page, Mc.
he does say that ATIs perform worse.

Thx for all the input. now I have some more things to test :)

... bah nothing helped. Still have the whole screen covered in a black square pattern when starting UT in opengl :(

"Fixed" my problem.

If someone happens to get similar problem...heres what I did.
I went back to D3D. After having tested the various d3d versions I found out that v436 now works (and it works great).

To get rid of framerate drops, I changed (in unrealtournament.ini)
NoFractalAnim=True

And to get rid of mouselag I:
Ticked "disable mouse acceleration in games" (in my logitech mouse settings)
And ticked "use direct input" (in UT)
And set vsync to TRUE

(by ticked, I mean that i set them to true). These are the only settings I can use without getting insane mouseacceleration when trying to play.

Again. Thx for the help.
