Hi guys. I've received some demos from mates but I can't run them! It says that some files are outdated, and then asks me if I want to download some files. I click on "Yes" and it says that Demo Manager succeeded in downloading them, but still when I want to play the demo, it asks again to download those files, despite I have them all! Any suggestions? Thanks in advance! :)

i have the same problem with my old demos from 1793
can you also start the demos by typing "demoplay ..." ? i can and they play completely fine (no unreal 1 fonts etc.)

a) cratos once mentioned some way of finding out, which files didn't pass the checksum test (which i think takes place and causes that message). i can't really recall it though but i would love to get to know it again.

b) you can create a demo summary file with demomanager. i am not sure if that is enough to check the checksums manually.

c) utpg (ut package ... thingy... some kind of package inspector or something). there is a UID for each of these packages iirc (which you can see with that little tool) and comparing these UIDs might HALP as well... i think??

ahhh my memory is so bad.
(summon timo, cratos again)

i had seen that posting before but was 100% sure I had already tried all these files because I knew I had them in my system folder as multimesh_v2.u, etc.

but I was wrong:

- what I needed was a certain version of relics.u
- I still had one version in my cache and one version as .u in my system dir. hoped for ut to pick the correct version each time :D (turned out both files were identical and not the correct version :D)
- so I cache-cleaned the cache version, backed it up, tried the other version, et voila...

I have now uploaded all my versions of these files for you. for some reason I seem to have even a few more versions of some of the files (hope there are no cheats inside). especially epiccustommodels_1.u and epiccustommodels_2.u are equal in size but have a different checksum. so if anyone wants to check them out; go for it.

And here is the tool I was talking about:
http://www.filefront.com/14188123/UT_PT_20beta5.zip

if you load a .u file, you can see the file's GUID (in one of the tabs on the lower left side) -> which you will find as well in your cache folder/cache.ini .
short explanation:

((this will be useless if you don't have the important files cached))

the plain filesize info should be enough already though (in most cases).
unfortunately the demomanager only dumps the custom packages to the summary file, even if you chose to see "all packages" before. also it does only mention the bonus packs in the summary file. it does not show the explicit files. but you can still see the info (filesize) in the demomanager window itself and compare the file sizes from there.

Not sure where those other versions have come from; I would only ever recommend using the two official sets I linked previously.

I just had them lying around and thought, i'd share them, just in case anyone needs them.
did this help you as well chianti?
