They are discussing banning adult porn in Scotland.

Personally, I am pissed off at this. While I am sure there is a reasonable amount of Bad Things (TM) in the porn industry, including forced sex acts and so on, I cannot believe that it is the majority of it.

The Equal Opportunities Committee supported a petition claiming links between porn and sexual crimes and violence against women and children.

The document from Scottish Women Against Pornography urges parliament to define such material as incitement to sexual hatred and make it an offence

Now they dont state wether owning, viewing or making the porn is what they beleive is the problem but I cant say that I belive them.

I would be well pissed if they banned porn. You know they tried to ban group sex here too. Didnt get anywhere thankfully.

It's amazing that feminists still seem to believe that porn is a victimisation of the women who appear in it - as if no woman ever does it voluntarily or could ever, for example, be making a career out of it. Just another example of narrow-minded self righteousness and I hope people will recognise this for what it is and so pay zero attention to the opinions of these numbskulls.

If you ban such a thing, it would go illegal > Bad.
That's my opinion.

Ive not read it but Salman Rushdie's book "XXX : 30 Porn-Star Portraits" , saying how the ammount of pornography in a society reflects an invidual's freedom in it, might be worth a read on this topic.
just for your info.

disclaimer: got the info from a small article in spiegel magazine and can barely remember what was said in it. ;)

The amount of pornography in a society depends on alot of things. (Not that i'm complaining about it :p:)

:ban: :coolfip:

I think it's a bit stupid to forbid it:

-drugs is forbidden, this doesn't prevent people taking it (people just think they're cool when they take some)
-pr0n would be just the same as above

/would be nice for my bandwidth though ;)

Well tbh i don't see the point banning it, still with career "opurtunities", porn can be used as an aphrodiziak within sex and sexualrelated dillemas, porn is not only for men, as many women have started to experience with it(not saying all do). But i agree that the sickest kinds should be banned, although it's almost useless since the i-net contains so much of it, people will stop buying magazines/videos and rather dl them instead:( :deal:
Soz for typos:x

how would one enforce such ban? How would one define what is porn? Is Britney Spears Christina Aguilera-type of branding porn? Is Maxim magazine a porn magazine? If not, is Playboy? Is this porn: B====D ?

In the minds of these idiots, Porn is anything short of a Burqa.

I had an email conversation recently with some muppet insisting that FHM Magazine was hardcore porn and lead to Women being raped.

I fear that the real problem, of course, is that the women in question have just never known the joy of DVDA ;)

I have no idea how they would try to enforce it, I just read their website and it says they wouldnt advocate censorship but thats about it. How you can ban porn without censorship I have no idea, but thats what they say.

I would guess that newsagents selling it would become illegal so you couldnt buy it, then possesion would be viewed harshly. No sex on TV and that sort of stuff. Close the lapdancing bars, close the shops selling sex toys like Anne Summers etc

These people's view would probably involve anything less than a swimsuit as porn, so no bikinis, no topless, no naked before you even get to sex acts!

Not only has swap started recruiting non-swedish players, now they are all females against porn? Can't be happening, where's this world turning to? :\

Anyway, I don't see how they are going to enforce this since there is always down to the person itself to judge if it's porn or not. It's vague really, none can really define porn even tho it's mostly consists of some sort of genitalia. Weird scotts, put them all on a remove island with porn magazines and movies for a week and they will have changed their oppinion about it :)

Keep it as it is! :shout:

Im interested in how they gonna define it, most definitions you could use, eg, view of genetalia etc, would also make a lot of famous art illegal. However a lot of classic art, imho was probably considered porn at the time, so what does that make museums etc? :P

what a bunch of hogwash, women are getting good money for doing what they were born to do (oops i really didnt mean it like that :D ). Any form of forced sex should of course be combated but making it illegal makes absolutetely no sense at all (porn in general i mean). I say we vote swap out of the league and denounce it's existence :D

''forced sex"
ehm, isn't that already kinda illegal lol? I hear they also call it raping, and i believe u can go to jail for a looooong while for trhat
