Hi

I´m gonna buy a new tft monitor and i was wondering if any1 had any suggestions/recommendations.
Everything from 20" - 24" is of intesrest to me. What´s most important is that it´s good for games (fast response time) and has a resolution of at least 1600x1200. If you have 1 yourself or if you know of a good1 you´ve tried pls give me some info here.

Tnx in advance!

The specs he's asked for pretty much give you the price range :P

Your choice is quite limited and I doubt a lot of people hree have screens that large with gaming in mind. Assuming you dont want a widescreen screen as you want 1600x1200, most 20+ screens will be around 8ms response which at best should be adequate for gaming although I know samsung do a 20" with 5ms response, the larger you go the harder itll be to find a low response panel.
I have a 19" viewsonic and have been quite happy with that, so id recommend that make to look at :)

ViewSonic looks good idd.. 19'' and 1600x1200 with a 4ms response
other manufactures like BenQ, Acer and Phillips are all 8 ms response... so not really good compared with ViewSonic...
NEC LCD20WGX2 has a 6ms response, but it is a about 600€ ;)
and why go for 20'' - 24''? any reasons for that?

I'm also looking for a new monitor in that range, but I think I'll wait a bit before buying.
I usually check out http://www.prisjakt.nu (which you probably do too)

From what I've understood, reading in other forums, the cheap ones have TN-Panels which is old technology, short response time but can give weird colourshifts even in a small angle. And the expensive ones have high response time but good colour.
But I don't know if that's true.

"Officiell tråd - LG L204WT" i http://www.minhembio.com/forum/
"Ska man arbeta med bildredigering så ska man välja en skärm som har en IPS eller VA-panel (dvs MVA, PVA, S-PVA, S-MVA, IPS, S-IPS eller AS-IPS)"

But the samsung MyM mentioned looks like the best choice for the moment, if you wanna buy now. One guy complained a little about the viewangle but otherwise seemed satisfied with it.

I am pretty much in the same category that Supermic is (and Tut), and I agree with his advice, (assuming he didn't say soemthing different in swedish ;) )
Samsung is definitely on my list, and so is LG (Dell uses samsung and lg), and viewsonic, but again this is one field where new monitors keep coming. The biggest problem that I see and hasn't been solved yet is that monitors are still on a specialised "single purpose" level, meaning you either get a gamer-only monitor, or a graphics only, or video-only etc. The all around monitor is still far off. I am an avid reader of Tom's Hardware and Anandtech, so I'd suggest you read up on those, I am guessing you have checked them out already anyway, here are some quick links with some good info.

Please let me know what you end up doing.

The all around monitor is still far off.

Or will never exist, especially while companies can sell you 2 monitors and a massive TV instead of a single multipurpose unit. Good business sense!

True, but this issue exists mostly because of the nature of lcd technology at present, since crt doesn't have the same problem. Ofcourse there will always be specialised monitors, but I suspect (hope) that as technology moves forward, response rates drop and color fidelity grows, we'll have better all around candidates available.

Still waiting for my monitor, it's been delayed until 23 Sept. , and the dead pixels are numbering up on my monitor...

Tnx for replies. Looked a bit into the1 you mentioned MyM...

5ms, 20", 1600x1200. Looks really promising. Gonna look arround a bit more before deciding but this1 is at the top of the list right now anyway.

And Saus, no special reasons. Just want a bigger1 that i have today.

I found a really good price on this one, and have been tracking it for a while, it's the Samsung 204B if people haven't checked it out yet. I think I will probably go ahead and order one, given that LCD prices could be on the rise now for a bit. Does anyone own this monitor, would be helpful to see their experience?

I ended up buying it to cash on the rebate (final price $287, pretty good for a monitor like this), I should be getting it by next week, will let you know by then, if I forget ping me.
