Hello Lads, would like some input in which of this monitors should i buy.

I have looked and read a lot about them and haven't been able to figure which one is best, while one has LED back lighting, the other one has a faster response.

price wise they are close enough. LED 188€ the other one is 177€ .

LED:
Asus VE228H
http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=uIHvcQOeaQafxIAo

From what i was able to find in reviews online etc the response on this one is 5ms, although it's black white black (normal), atleast thats what i was able to find out from reading some from users didnt found the answer for this question in any official statement.

Asus VH226H
http://www.asus.com/Product.aspx?P_ID=jIyOPTabnLR7wAfg

Faster then the LED response 2ms (Gray-to-Gray) better contrast and brightness leves

need opinions

ty for feedback ;)

Get a 24", i've found that 22" at 1920 x 1080 is a little small.

I'm using a 22" @ 1680 x 1050 and love it! also it seems a nice resolution for most games.

I have no experience with Asus monitors, been using a Syncmaster for a few years now and loving it :D

Making sure its 16:9 is a big must. Everything else is just gravy.

think i will buy the LED one it's the best price quality option

23 24 LEd and IPS ouch mym top stuff = expensiveeee.

I Remember crossing my eyes on a good deal on a IPS monitor for a friend that is a a professional 2d and video editing artist.

Ill look for it and show you.

Is the 3d and associated 120Hz aspect of that monitor worth it, its around £400/€460 which is a large amount for a TN panel.

Have to buy a new monitor myself after my one died on me 2 days ago, was trying to find a 23-24" LED H-IPS panel with a lowish response time but seems there arent any out there :(

all i can say is that even with 3d disabled is the picture more clear and brillant than anything i´ve seen be4

edit: u can get the moni for 300 £ / 350 € ...... here in germany

and it´s not cheapest

Your edit is totally wrong! :D

VG236H and VG236HE arent exactly the same package, your original link is to the VG236H which comes with the3d glasses, the shop link is to the VG236HE which is the same monitor but no glasses. Difference in price is usually less than the price of the glasses on their own 100€ ish.

Why is 16:9 a big must? I have had Samsung 226BW for quite a while now at 16:10 and I think it's a big reason why my UT won't run properly, but can't really explain why, it just feels akward. Other games however do run nicely on 1680 x 1050.

Your post makes me doubt to get the Samsung 2233RZ (120hz monitor), since this is also 1680 x 1050.

Would it in essence still be best to go for a 24" 16:9 1920 x 1080p?

Well it's a bit must for me. Most modern movies and TV broadcasts are in 16:9. If you play a 16:9 broadcast on a 16:10 display you'll end up with black borders at the top and bottom. Of course you could stretch the video to fit - but that would cause things to look odd.

I've got dual displays on this machine. I ain't bragging because ideally I wouldn't mismatch my monitors like this - but it's just what I got:

Acer X221W 22" @ 1680 x 1050
Acer V243H 24" @ 1980 x 1080

I've also got a "Full HD" 1980 x 1080 22" monitor, but it wasn't the same height as the 24" and looked odd when used as a dual monitor.

So the main differences I've found are that modern movies/films/tv won't fit the screen at 16:10. My Panasonic Plasma 42" TV is 16:9 @ 1980x1080 as well, and now I wouldn't buy anything different or want to watch on anything different.

Games run great at 1980x1080 but i'm not so sad that I'd want to play my games at 800x600 and low world textures, high player textures to try and gain an edge. I just enjoy the graphics.

Is there some mixing up of 16:9 and 16:10 there, or am I just getting confused?

Ive gone for a Dell U2311H, couldnt quite justify the price of a U2410!

Got my U2311h this morning, quite impressed by it.

For a fast FPS game like UT its not quite as good for ghosting as the 2ms G2G it replaced but its acceptable. Colour quality is better in every way than the TN panel it replaced, so quite happy :)

Dont understand why they dont have cable tidys in all monitors.
