there are 8 engines and the car can land quite safely if one or more blows, the engines only have 2 moving parts so engine failing will be rare :moon2:

Dual Engines -- In the unlikely event of an engine failure sufficient power remains to ensure a safe and comfortable landing. Since the M400 has eight engines, one or more can fail and the Skycar will still operate safely. Unlike any light helicopter or airplane, the M400 Skycar has four engine nacelles; each with two Rotapower engines. These computer-controlled engines operate independently and allow for a vertical controlled landing should one engine fail.

But if you look more closely there are only 4 fans in total. The article suggest that you fly from point A to point B, like anywhere. Guess that means you can suck up anything from anywhere into the fans and break or clog them. Plastic bags, waste etc...

And...

The rotapower engines have only two major moving parts

Only two major, hmmmm that puts me at ease ;)

Looks like a neat lil machine, but I won't fly with it for now if you don't mind. Look at its aerodynamic design, when one of the engines fail, you got a major problem. There will immediately be a force unbalance and the craft will flip.
