Just installed it, let's see what it does :o

Edit: Right, no idea how it works and why, but I love this shit. Sites that are normally slow as fuck show up in an instant! cool shit, green re... nvm ;<

You do have the option to clear the files it stores

Clear Your History: Clear your history (currently 188.3 MBs of local storage).

You fail to see the point that most data is sent through google itself, this includes posts. If google wanted to they could build a huge database of web-use for each user/ip along with say all forms sent through. I am not really botherd about security in this way, but you are placing an awful lot of trust into google. I am sure if it was microsoft doing this there would be uproar about the security implacations.

Yep, the ubber evil Google tracks what you search for (google.com), who you email and what you say (gmail)(Groups), where you are going or live (maps), what you want to buy and how much you'll spend (froogle), who you chat/IM (talk), the global and local events you are interested in (news), you and your friends opinions (Blogger), whats on your computer (desktop search).. etc etc etc

Thats not forgetting the stuff in beta:
  • Transit/trip planner
  • RSS Reader
  • Video & TV search
  • Ride Finder - track taxis and cars
  • Google suggest (knows what you type even if you do not submit form)
  • Mobile phone and Google interactions
  • Compute - seti@home style research program
And all of this tracked by a a single cookie, which doesn't expire until 2038. Of course, once you can delete them - but you cannot delete the database side of things, which will easily be associated with your old history and profile once you login to your gmail account.

So Google has the most potential be to evil with everyones information - but so far they have the perfect gleaming reputation - even from the paranoids perspective.

The longer they leave it before they do turn evil - the more money they will make in the long run.
