GeForce3! It appears that the next generation chipset from NVIDIA will be named the GeForce3. If this story over at NVchips-fr is on the up and up.

According to the report, the pic appears to be real and some shops in Switzerland already have the card in their price list for around 500$. It also says that the GeForce3 will appear in stores around the end of February or beginning of March. Thanks for the tip Tanguy!

So who's going to order one

Update: I received word from a reliable source that CompUSA has the Guillemot 3D Prophet III logged in their system as SKU# 282126 with a retail price of $599. Hopefully this is a feature rich card (TV-Out, DVI, modified Blue Orb?) as Hercules products typically command a premium price. Keep in mind that the 3D Prophet II Ultra sells for $499 at CompUSA online.

Update II: I received a confirmation from a CompUSA Corporate Sales Manager that the SKU# for the GeForce3 is valid.

Aren't those orbs the coolers that will make you deaf within a few day?
As for the G3 I want 1 but wont have that kind of money for a graphics card..
First a monitor so I can see what I'm shooting at before getting up close, then a new Mobo/CPU.. Then maybe in the year 2005 I'll get the G3 <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/ohwell.gif ALT=":\">

Geforce3? I preordered my Geforce4 the other day. Rang up and gave my Credit Card Details and they said it would be with me within a month or two. Hmm Come to think of it they didn't ask where to deliver it...

The combination of NVIDIA's XGPU and MCPX will produce never-before-experienced 3D graphics, high definition video, audio, and broadband capabilities.

The first processor, the XGPU, a fully programmable 3D processor, contains more than 60 million transistors. This awesome amount of computing horsepower is dedicated to one goal -- create stunning, never-before-seen imagery. The second processor, the MCPX, is based on two powerful DSPs with 4 billion operations per second dedicated to 3D audio and network processing. The MCPX performs the processing for broadband networking functions, high-speed peripherals, and is the most sophisticated audio processor ever built. The MCPX will enable Xbox to process 64 channels of positional 3D audio.

The NV20 (GeForce 3) and the XGPU are basically the same core design with subtle differences.

LMAO no card on earth comes even close to utilising full badnwidth of 4XAGP :) and you all want dual sli and 8XAGP ;))

NV20 chip will run pretty sweet on 4XAGP.....
