somewhere nowhere
a friend of mine did buy this mainboard with a p4 3.0
he installed the hardware on it and all the little cables like cpu fan, sys fan, ....

but now when he start his pc he gets this msg

Warning CPU has been changed
Please re-enter CPU settings in C-MOS and save before you exit

other problem is:

he starts pc then he got like 30sec and pc shuts down directly
he doesn't have windows installed because he did buy a new HD

and wtf is c-mos

You will usually get that on the first boot of a pc as you need to setup/confirm the cpu speed in the bios

as far as youre concerned cmos = bios (where u do settings for system)

If the pc is shutting down after 30 seconds then it most likely is over heating, either the heatsink is mounted incorrectly or fan isnt on.

oke other question
there is a cable with some plastic arround it that says cpu
do u have to stick it between cpu and big coolfan?
maybe thats why its closing after a phew seconds?

Dont put anything on top of the cpu heatspreader, put the probe to the side of it. Putting the probe ontop will stop it making contact properly and lead to the thermal shutdown.

I would be very surprised if it didnt show in the manual where to put it

sounds like a temp-sensor.. no dont put it between.. and u dont need it if u dont wanna see the temp.. cpus have a built in sensor also.. abd that bios (c-mos) thing is most prolly what mym said..

+ make shure cpu fan is connected 2 the powerconnector close 2 cpu.. many mobos have fan rpm check 2 see that cpu fan is running..

+ in bios check if hightemperature shutdown is enabled and if its set way 2 low.. if it has such setting
