Can somebody tell me is it possible that for example 2 cards nvidia8600GT working in SLI can be so much lower performance than a single 8800GTX in games and benchmarks (pointing @ UT3)

I mean 8600GT is about 100€ so two of them makes 200€ and 1 nvidia 8800GTX costs like 500€

so we got here is 2 cards (not very high end but nice) for more than double cheaper than single high end card...

is it really so much better or people should buy two 8600gt?

Did someone find a page that has comparison of these cards working on UT3 demo?

Im just curious...:P

Don't expect anything near linear performance boosts using SLI.. Some games will even run slower with SLI, and you will definitely have more issues running things with SLI.. Besides that, a 8800 GTX is more then twice as fast as a single 8600GT ( http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics_2007.html?modelx=33&model1=706&model2=855&chart=318 ), and thats even before the SLI penalty..

One thing you can be sure of though, is twice as high power consumption with SLI.

Can somebody also explain me why the 8800GTS 320 MB has more points as the 8800GTS 640 MB?
I'm thinking of getting a 8800xx any time soon but what's the real difference in the 320 and 640 MB versions ?

The 640 MB version will be more "future-proof".
As games start to use more graphics memory, the 640 MB version will degrade less in performance, because it still has enough video memory to keep all the textures in its own ram, instead of having to use system memory.

Ty im getting that then :D
Also look here please:P

edit: you say it will be more future proof, but won't it still be capped at a certain speed due to my 'slower' mobo/cpu speed?:P

Your different hardware pieces will never "cap" each others performance. Yes, if you stick a very slow processor with a very fast graphics card, the card won't perform great of course. Some games will rely more heavily on the processor then others, but in general a better graphics card will always give higher performance.
Seeing that multi-threaded games have only just emerged, there is still lots of performance to be found in todays dual/quad core processors, for future games.

Yeah I want to go another 3-5 years with this new pc so I want the 'best' avaible now:P ofcourse i'm not paying 600 euro and 500 euro for a CPU but the 'best' for normal customers:P
