Just here to report, not rly to show off.

After months with fighting against myself i finally decided to replace my rubbish laptop harddisk with a cheap (about 100 euros) ssd. After realising that i never use more than 20 GB anyway, i decided to buy the 32GB version.

Even it's just a cheap one, the difference is a blast. I can truly recommend that.
It's so silent, it's amazing. And the whole system feels way faster, because the access time is near 0.

Although - i lazy bum - just literally just cloned from the old disk onto the new one - meaning that it's a system with alot of bloat and trash on it, i'm satisfied with the outcome.

Just waiting for bigger SSD to become cheaper

hey :)

glad to hear you are happy with it!

you might wanna take a look at this, tho:
http://www.chip.de/artikel/SSD-So-haelt-die-Hightech-Festplatte-8x-laenger_37896910.html
apart from a few obvious things, there are hints, that might be interesting for you.
it tells you about a few things to take care of like block sizes and stuff I think (just flew over and bookmark tit).
i am posting this link mainly cause you said you cloned the old hdd to the new ssd.
sorry to the non-germans, though. it is written in german.

but i bet there is something similar in english somewhere!

Nice link tho

well, you've to know that this drive is a very cheep one and ofc nothing for speed junkies.
random writing speeds are - as usual for SSD - quite slow.
That doesnt bother me much, becuase i use the Laptop just for surfing, but some might be dissapointed. In such cases SLC SSDs are the way to go, sadly they are way too expensiv
