Right, fed up of this totally, massive wealth and prizes to whoever solves it etc.
For matches and practices I plug in a cable from upstairs to the router downstairs. I get constant nice ping, 100% connectivity including TS etc.
For publics, I just use the wireless connection. However, there are two consequences of this-
If my router is set to long preamble mode, I get ok ping (not amazing) but get disconnected at random intervals.
If my router is set to short preamble mode, I constantly get bad ping spikes of either 120-160, 230-300 or the worst of all 580-600 ping. Which is really ticking me off.
So its definately something with the wireless, and it isn't always caused by the microwave being in almost perfect line with the router and my comp. Any ideas guys?
