PC freezes...

Hi, since 2day, my comp freezes after couple of minutes...

this is how it looks like after the freeze is done, only way I can make my comp work again is a reboot via reset-button.

When I install gfx-drivers of nvidia, the freez happens. Even in booting menu (DOS) the screen looks like the added jpg.

If I use safe-mode (like now) its kinda fine, no bad things happening...
Something must be wrong with the driver I think.

Any Ideas? (Didn't change anything since weeks)

Looks like a faulty GFX card indeed. Maybe the memory is fried or something?

Try older version of driver?

Disassemble the card, clean the fans and chips, stick it in the oven for a bit... Should give you another 3-6 months on it.

1 out of 2 cards I've seen are still alive after 6 months.

well done 8800GT, 350eur and it blows up...

anyways, since 'trying to keep it alive' is just an operative decision, I will go for a new one on monday, think I'll just buy the nvidia 460 and its okay. No need for a big upgrade or summin, just want my PC to stay alive for another 2-4 years. No time for gamin anyways, but the freeze just annoyed me...sad

Try the baking if it's not an overheating problem, Michel.
(in case you cannot just return the gfx card anymore. no idea about current gfx cards and prices, so i dunno how old it is )
I've heard about many positive results with that procedure.
