If they did that, there would be no Community Support Mods :\

Any online game regardless of the ability to mod it or not is hackable at some level. You cannot ensure the client isn't in someway modifying the data it sends to the server. The only thing you can do is make it harder to hack.

Taking the modding facilities out of a game makes it harder, but at the expense of a huge trade off.

There is only 1 way to ensure a game is unhackable, and thats using the "dumb terminal" principal. If clients were nothing more than displays and input terminals, sending the key / mouse presses to the server and recieving diplay information from the server. Once the bandwidth to do that is possible, and nothing is processed client side, then games will be secure.

aye fs look how much effort blizzard put in to diablo2 to protect it from hackers and still damn gimps found loopholes every once in a while

Some bods only live to hack so nothing is safe and TBH some do some really good work like all those lovely no cd cracks, as I cant stand keep changing CD's in & out of my computer at LAN parties

PS maybe sony should take note FFS a pen

Everyone knows this but...

DrSin who worked with CSHP is employed byt Epic to cheatproof ut2k3++, as he have said it will never be totally cheatproof.

What he will focus on is to make it really hard to crack quickly after launch and make the tools available so that the community later can pick up the ball and make CSHP lookalikes without the security limitations the current CSHP had to deal with.

Out of the box it looks like md5 encryption, hard but not unbreakable...
