Hi all, blowing the dust off myself while I sit bored at work.

I'm in the process of developing a "retro" style version of steam - i.e. legalising the whole ROM culture and adding some fancy new elements to the whole thing to turn it into an opportunity. Which gave me a thought about all you old guys still clinging on to this admittedly engaging game :P.

Achievements - points-whoring to some, fame to others (wink ;)), game-extensions to others, addicting, annoying whatever. But there's some definate advantages - they take the gamer into places they weren't bothered being taken in before, and they extend the lifespan of games.

So why not include them on the UTA site, they will definately pull interest in I feel. Especially with the good job you guys have linking in the stats from games. Add in all the little icons, maybe an overlay to that UTA mod that you guys use when an achievement pops up. Something like (I'll leave the names to you guys I'm sure the sarcasm and dry wit hasn't vanished in this place :P) -

You have won a game 8-0
You have achieved 100% accuracy with one weapon through the whole match
You did not die on one map
You have gotten 100 rampages
You have gotten 500 killing sprees
You have used every weapon on one map to kill someone
You have launched 1000 people
You have posted on the forum
You have flamed Useless

etc etc etc, a nice mix of really easy and really tough ones.

I reckon it'll definately make things more interesting for you guys.

I don't know about other people, but the examples you've listed here don't appeal to me one bit. Assault has always been a team game, this list of achievements would most likely just encourage selfishness.

One of the few things I like about Clanbase is that succesful teams get rewarded with a nice little trophy behind their names.
Right now mi5 are back in the league. The people who've been around for a while know about them and their success, to others 'mi5' might not even ring a bell. Imo, such clans as ion, mi5, -8-, uas, mod etc. deserve to be credited somehow. A hall of fame with league winners in every assault type, a listing of influential/revolutionizing/amazing clans + players (uh oh, debatable!11!1!), and past admins, coders, contributors wouldn't be misplaced. For the future it could be an idea to hand out awards such as player of the month/year, most sporting clan (easy scheduling, player evening, no flaming etc.), most innovating clan (new launches, tricks) or w/e may appeal to people these days :P

Agreed ofcourse, everyone plays Assault for the teamwork aspect rather than the individual aspect. Therefore why not have team achievements that promote good teamwork, or achievements for the clan instead of the persion :)

I agree that its a team game

UTA stats should be used only a guide as they show nothing of what happens in a match apart from kills and time objectives are taken

the front players / snipers should always have most kills followed by the middle and back players but they all do just as important a job

as do the launchers in a clan

as such the way it all works is enough atm

As for the new mi5 it is not mi5 IMHO as only Mc is an original player

its just a name that should have been left in the past and should not have been reused but consigned to uta legend with the past glories left in the past

I'm afraid allowing a certain player with a proven cheating into mi5 has done nothing but sullied the good name and skill of the original clan

Ill prolly be flamed but in my eyes thats how i see it

Would be fun to have this achievements system, though I don't really think it would be really 'that' interesting that it would revive the league or anything.
Just a nice feature to add... which I think would then be a waste of time to integrate into this dying league. :P

Stylefish, Konnan, Twnz and myself are ex Mi5. Konnan will play for fun a few matches here and there, you will see him make an appearance. So other than Inspire and Wish its pretty original, also trying to see if Toaster will play again and perhaps ert (although he says he quits).

As for botters, well, ION, MI5 and almost every clan had their "botting" share (proven or heavy assumption), from Latino, Unique ION, to whoever else it may be. While I don't agree with cheating, at this stage when another clan has left the league, player choices are limited and if hes allowed to play in the league still, hes been given a second chance and until he cheats again I see no reason why he shouldn't play.

But I appreciate how you see Mi5, that's why only after speaking out of respect to Lenny, Konnan and a few of the old guys we thought let's bring it back. Mi5 will never be the same again thats true, a clan so many years old won't have all the same players and won't bring with it the same skill and dedication, but as long as I can keep at least some of the older players together I think it won't tarnish the name.

I was Mi5 :(

Ok, So I'm guessing Stylefish and Konnan arnt original players then? Look back on the history m8, you should find it on the mi5clan site. We are also still looking for some old Mi5 players to bring back.
As for Wish, why wont you/most give it a break? How long ago was it that he cheated? Can you catch him now cheating? Good luck with that. Theres been many "cheaters" in good clans in the past as Mc said.

Edit: mc beat me to it fs

I think TS has been playing too much Team Fortress 2

agreed.

Do people here think its ignorency of wish not to leave or should the majority just give it a rest? ( this seems to be topic of the day every 2 months  )

A feature I would like to see that sort of links in with Anni's is the chance for each team to nominate their oppositions player of the match. Who stood out the most as a leader/fragger/launcher whatever criteria you want to analyse with. Who knows maybe this will help with the respect between players instead of the regular "fo" or "luck" when aanyone does anything decent anymore.

Good idea. Lets also add pro achievements like

- get banned for flaming admins
- get caught for botting during league games
- get caught for botting during league games a 2nd time
- reset a PUG 5 times in a row while 12 players were signed in
- create multiple forum accounts
- create multiple league accounts
- post porn or racistic content in league forums

ye sounds like alot of fun

Bart talks as if the Pug being reset is players fault.... Do you not know the bot isn't coded to cope with connections going down or that there is a stupid spam kick for repeating something 3 times even if you say it hours apart?

Bart, you never pug, you never go in the channel, yet you are some kind of expert on the goings-on on the channel.

Dear Mister 'Torpedo',

how did you read out of my previous post that i wanna display me as pug-expert?

Did i adress anybody in my previous post?
Did i say any names in my previous post?
Did i say anything about the deeper resetting system of PUG in my previous post?
Did i say that it actually happens in my previous post?
Did i say if resets are justified or not in my previous post?
Did i say if bans are justified or not in my previous post?

To simplify it: No i did not.

So maybe you should learn the lesson that not everything you read in an internet gaming forum is meant to be die hard serious and that there's no need for you to be an all-time-smartass...or let's better call it 'correction-police', who corrects and analyses every single line of peoples posts.

ALthough my previous post doesnt have any PUG-experting aspects, i gonna repeat now what i alrdy told ya before: Only because someone doesnt play PUGs, he is allowed to use the word PUG and give his views on it.
If you cant stand it in my case, i give you a wicked advice: Add me to your ignore list. Simple and efficient.

Now hurry back to your PUG channel. The match is beginning soon.

Thank you for your valueable time.
Sincerly Bart

PS: Oh yeah and incase you wanna answer to the crap i posted in this post (i doubt it), use private messaging, because from now on i wont be able to see your posts. Plus, we should keep this thread flame-free.
