wmv is a video codec dude, I asume you ment wma. Wma uses a lot of the algorithms that mp3 does. Its just that its microsoft. Stick with mp3 or ogg, keep away from Windows media and Real :puke:

all i know is,.cda .wav .ogg n wmv,mp3 which u have mentioned but im not sure if the ones i worte r real lol

It depends on what kind of quality you are after. If you want transparent sounding (undistingable from the original source) the quality / size ratios would be somewhat like this:

Musepack (mpc) The best lossy codec, transparent in quality 5, bitrates ~150 http://musepack.net
AAC Using nero encoder you should get transparent quality at around 160kbs.
Vorbis (ogg) Bitrates similar to AAC for transparent quality.
MP3 Using lame you get transparency at around 180kbs (VBR)

If you want lower bitrates, take a look at this: http://www.rjamorim.com/test/multiformat128/results.html

If you're going to distribute music in the net, I'd do it either in ogg (preferred) or mp3. If you're going to be playing audio on your website while someone is browsing it, the tune should be either a midi file or a wav. I think all other formats would need a plugin to work.
