Someone expplain LOTR to me

I was never satisfied with the dwarf ring explanation - the book just says they are gone or lost or whatever, well so was the one ring. SO how do they know it's not one of the dwarf rings to begin with?

Because they threw the ring into fire and then lines on it appear.

You are right, except for the ending
.. there´s no happy ending in Book...

Maybe real endning will be shown in some 150€ version od multicollectorssupasetedition for DVD consumers....

As for the elves and dwarves fighting in the book, Lorien gets attacked a couple of times and Mirkwood (where Legolas is from) is attacked and the dwarves are busy fighting along with the men Dale in the North.
