So, in a time of impending recession, is it just me, or is it a bit tactless for politicians to say they need a big payrise, and a £23,000 block grant for expenses to offset the rising cost of living, whilst taxing the rest of us to buggery?

On the one hand, they say inflation (CPI) is only at 2.2%, yet on the other they say that there is a rise in the cost of living > 2.2%. Hrmm!

Real Inflation (not even RPI) is running at something like 9%, and everyone in this country is getting screwed over in a variety of ways.

In Bill Hicks terms, "Go back to sleep America (UK) you're goverment is in control. Here's Gladiators, watch this - go back to bed and shut up"

Until stuff actually annoys the majority of the population, they don't give a crap about losing freedoms, economic bubbles or bad goverment policies. We're only got ourselves to blame for letting things get into this state.

No chance of a revolution in this country. Everyones too busy selfishly looking after their own interests, just like the politicians.

It's all bollocks imo. They'll spend whatever they like and claim it as their second home allowance? Second home? Just move!

Two jags put a mock tudor fireplace in his home at a cost of £8k of tax payers money a couple of years back.

When they had to submit receipts they had allowances such as:
They received £750 of the £23k towards a TV and stereo! FFS! ?
£300 for air con! Who the fuck has air con in their "second home"!
Although, common sense has prevailed and they limited the cost of a blender to £200....

It's an absolute joke. Giving them the cash as a lump sum simply removes the embarassment of showing just how out of touch they are with 'going rates'.

They all seem to spend the money anyway so I guess this just remove the need for Two Jags to ask the 'Soho Love Club' to head their receipts 'B&Q'

yikes that's a bit odd that politicians get so much more money then the average man on the street.
afaik in Holland even the prime minister only get 126.000 euro's a year. That's much already but everyone who works for the government won't get more then that. He's the best paid person in the government. A normal member of parliament gets around 86.000 afaik.
