Hi, I recently bought a new Hard Drive.

A Seagate S-ATA 7200 rpm 750 GB ( pa dri hi 0903000 )

Connected it to the motherboard and powersupply, so far so good. The bios instantly detected it and my pc booted as normally. Vista then said new hardware was found and automatically installed it and could be used instantly.

So I open up "My Computer" But there is no drive there! (see pic)

When I go to Device Manager it says I got the device installed and working properly :| (see pic)

How the >>>> do I get my hard drive to show up in My Computer so I can start putting my porn on it.

Thanks for reading.

Update: I just tried to format it but at the end it said:

De bewerking kan niet worden voltooid omdat de schijf niet is geinitialiseerd

I'll try to translate ; " The action can not be completed because the disk is not initialized "

(The disk did show up in System Mangament as Unallocated space yes, but when I start the formatting it says error message from above here)

update: yay its formatting.

The initialize button is hidden at the left of the drive (in computer management > storage).

Now another problem arose. It was working fine for several months, last month I went to a lan and unplugged it because it has private files (aka bestiality) on it. When I got home I plugged it back in (I kept the disc in my pc but i just unplugged both little cables) But my entire pc wont recognize it anymore  Not even in the boot menu, or not anywhere in Windows (Also not in disc management) or SiSoft Sandra (hardware scanning tool) wont see it either.

I checked multiple times if the cables we're still plugged in correctly. (one red cable and another (bundled) cable (power cable I guess). It's a a Seagate S-ATA 7200 rpm 750 GB ( pa dri hi 0903000 )

What can this be, or is it b0rked? :(

you've a problem

THe harddisk you bought had a failure in the firmware. Few months ago hundreds of users alrdy expierenced what you did.
THe only way to keep those drives alive was to upgrade the harddisk firmware, which you sadly didnt do.

As i know there is no way to fix the problem when the disk has been broken.
Seagate provides free data recovery when it was caused by this bugged firmware.

send it back to SeaGate tell them you have important data on there

I expect all they will do is change the board and send it back as the disk and data are prolly ok

Cool! Sweet, thanks for the replies.

Next time I'll buy an HD I will read into it first. I always thought SeaGate was a good company

I hope seagate can fix it.

You could also try this:
http://www.r-studio.com/

Used it to recover data from two hdd's which were configured as an raid-0 array.. hdd's were fine, my mobo wasn't hehe..
Anyhow, maybe it can recover your data on that hdd as well, i dunno.. Depends on the actual problem of the hdd..
