New Month, new thread to start from fresh. I've made a list of all the maps proposed and comments given by various people. If I missed u out or misquoted u etc i'm sorry (took long enough to get it in this state :P) just correct it by posting in this thread.

Suggest/give comments for any maps u want (don't, i repeat don't comment on every map!! - if its got a load of bad comments it wont need any more). Keep the discussion light like the last thread and on topic - anything off topic is subject to deletion - If u want maps altered the place to ask is the map forum.

Aiming for 5 months to clanrep vote on during May (as we did this month) - we'll try and listen more to the voices of the clan reps on suggestions, but everyone can put a comment down if they wish.


This is the format I've laid everything out as:

There's roof action, etc, and you can't get INTO the sub unless you get a goal inside the building, so that makes it relative cheat-proof. It's NOT susceptible to launch, a la Frigate, and defenders can enter the sub via spawn very rapidly, so any launch advantage is minor. It's a well-balanced map, tho hard to defend, it's also hard to capture" (Apr)

yes im talking about the old 7 default maps.

A few people over the passed year have mad a few good AL ][ ]I[

so why dont we give them a try in the league?

Not a lot has changed in this map, no doorway to chains, (so u wont get spammed there)
the long run to the end of the map theres a nice bit of hay to take the bullets for ya :D

only 1 way out of spawn room :( and no jumping on to the back of the boat with out taking out the fuckin gun first :D (this guns an extra man for the def)
no launching cause theres no way in at top.

Starts off same as Overlord, but they have moved the control room,
this map wont get done in 20 sec.
gun caven looks a lot better, more room to move :D

Scarab gives a really nice gameplay, id enjoy to play it on publics and in the league

bioassault also has its moments, tho it can be very spammy
at least it is way better than guardia or lavafort][

rocketcommand is a nice designed map, but just too huge, the suggestion to make 2 parts of it has been made before but i think it is just not a map for the league

submarinebase][ looks very nice, but i think is very spammy coz of its narrow gangways

worsethings looks really leet, i cant say anthing on the gameplay coz i didnt even play it vs bots so far

the rest of the maps listed are imo just crap
some (like biux) are just one room after another without any creative parts
 
ive downloaded
rook][, frigate][, oceanfloor][, mazon EH][ and overlord]|[

all i can say is : fucking bollox!!!!!
the guy who made them really loves spam and autocannons and narrow gangways etc..
therefore he hates luunching and did everything to make it impossible
in mazon you can find walls above the maingate and in front of the button
in overlord he moved the final room into the lavacave he copied from lavafort][, the distance between the second spawn and the final is twice as long as before, and there is no 3rd spawn
same for rook
if you play these maps you feel happy that the defenders dont
have redeemers


so pls dont even concider to take these map into the elections
 
can i suggest annihilation
god damn fine map
can be spammy at some points but overall its a kickass map
nice textures
not to big
several kewl launch and hammerjump spots
weapons are quite well spread
kewl teleporters for defense
all in all i would like to play it in the league without problems

Long Map? No way, with proper attack tactics it´s completed in 4-5 mins (or maybe much less)
About the nasty spam points, they can be fixed in an AL version imo :D
 
rocketcommand is 1 of the few maps WITHOUT spam points (maybe only the rocket at the end but also there an average assault player can go through), because the maker ( mier ) thought about multiple routs in the map...
and if u dont know about this because ur too tired to study the map, dont just say its spam only blabla cuz its not true
I studied this map for hours, for sure more then 10 hours and its just the best map assault can give. Its a bit long maybe but thats what assault and all games should be ( look ctf, dm etc etc... all 20 min games ). Although for a league match it would take so much time... too bad that a map like this should loose cuz of that criterium :|
- There are many routes
- Almost no spam, like i said
- Its a long map so well have action all time and not that we have to wait more in a war then play... a bit what i hate :|
- It IS a defendable map when tactics are used...because of the great teleporter system Mier set up. And its not a map which is finished in 2 min ALWAYS *cough* riverbed3al :D. But its more a map like bridge which can be defended
- It gives loads of tricks and launches which are maybe a reason to practice again?...
ah well, ut2k3 is coming, ill point my eyes at that soonish and many other people too
 
aye top map easily one of the best maps made its like bridge but better spam nah i could modify a little get rid of flak and some other things

flak sucks =/ u just fire and kill someone u dont know no skill should'nt be on many maps.

if i flak someone usually secondary ball at least some skill then unlike guardia which the door gets a beating all though the game.

rocketcommand kicks ass and should be in the league.. it can be done pretty quick maybe the last points people group up but multiple ways no spam kick ass map should be in.
 
AS-rocket command is a frame rate killer on a low end pc, i for one wouldnt want to play this map jst for that one reason
 
People keep saying RocketCommand is too big or it takes 3 mins for a solo run.

Well so does GolgothaAL, and there aren't very many league matches that don't have that map it the maplist.

Golgotha has 15 minutes time to complete it, but very rarely takes longer than 4mins (although I am aware that some people have defended it for the full 15mins)

After people find some launches, themap will soon become alot shorter.

Ajax, some of your favorite maps are high polly maps that kill your fps, RocketCommend would be no worse than bridge or siege. There will be enough launches on this map to keep you going for a year or two

AS-Saqqara(AL) is eating up way more fps than AS-RocketCommand does on my PC... How about Your PC? ;)
 
AS-Saqqara(AL) runs sweet on my pc unlike rocketcomand, you have to remember this is an old map played it to death when it first came out got frame rates of 12 in some places :( only map currantly in the league that gives me close to this low a fps is seige if i look off the top of the tower (14fps), as for launchs yeah they are a good few (was shown loads by FU back when i was in fjs) and a hiddern keg of health. What iam trying to say is this I know this map and i know it sucks on my pc frame rate wise, if it didnt i would surjest it myself. Oh no lose of frame rate on bridge either :P Not only that but a good defense imo would hold this map for full amount of time np
 
bah lolol if i look from tha top ofm seige tower i get 5 to 7 fps :P
 
Dont have any real tips 4 maps due to the fact that I have never played these maps with a full server of clan/good players, which is the only way to test a map, Is there some way that on a fixed date/time we could all get togther and play these maps to death (well at least 5/10 times :P) so that an informed POV can be made about each map
 
Well if we get about five candidate maps they'll go on the league servers for testing + clan rep voting.

But atm we have maybe one.
 
Yeh but it appears that Rocket command is the only map on the cards at the moment :D
