You guys probably never heard of me, I’m Shaft. (dôh..) I’m the brother of BOD’s beloved ProjectX. Yes, you probably won’t believe it, but he has a family…
I honestly never knew a game could get someone so hooked, every day after school when I come home, he’s behind our dad’s laptop working on something in connection with Unreal Tournament. Whether he’s posting (or ‘spamming’) or playing/training, he’s always doing something with UT.
Now, I am not saying this is bad, but could you guys give him a break? I mean, he’s got a social live, and school to take care of! Speaking about school, you never guess when my lil’ bro makes his homework….after bedtime, in his bed under the blankets. And when my dad, or even me comes up the stairs, he tries to turn of the light as soon as possible. But always to late, now I agreed with him that I would come up the stairs with a faster ritm, so that he can hear the difference. (Must say it works…) But he’s always to late for my dad, and then (think y’all recognise this…) he gets a speech. Auke (ProjectX) also seems to be in able to be in bed on time. Since he’s 15, he should be in bed at 10.00 PM according to my parents. He stops at ten o’clock, but then it’s already to late, he still needs to pack his bag…brush his teeth, and doing what a man gotta do…(That’s going to the toilet, and pull your pants down followed by sitting on the toiletseat and..argh not going into this that far…. , for the unintelligent amongst us.) The other day, dad was so mad at him that he had to go to bed very early on Friday night! And that are a couple of reasons that I ask you, let him go once and a while, plz for his sake. He’ll probably deny all this, but believe for one-time…a foreigner.
The reason I’m not a FULL UT-player (oh god, u guys must think I am a sissy) is because I like other games too. (and I don’t have time, but that later on) For example, Quake 3 Arena, you can say what u want, but it differs very much from UT but it has the same principles, kill or be killed. Counter-Strike was one of my favourite, I quit because of the enormous amounts of cheaters. Another angle, Independence War 2, X-Wing: Alliance (I used to play this, but the community is dying thus the game)
And back to how people can be so godd*amn hooked. Personally I think UT is a great game, let’s just say a kickass-game. But sometimes, I feel like, he, not all this shit again, same maps, same handling, same graphics (ok I left out: other opponents, but that doesn’t count!), what I mean is, I sometimes get bored of games. Not that bored that I never play them, but I couldn’t imagine me, playing UT 24:7. Mean, it gets bored and all. Every match you play is different, but also very alike. You keep winning or losing, making new strategies, but the game remains the same! And I wonder, could a game be so, marvellous that you ONLY (and I do mean ONLY, I mean look at my bro…) play one game? Auke also plays other games, but that a re always games we can play together on our LAN, or with our dad.
But then I see the bondages of the clans, the community of UT, my bro’s clan members and how they react to him. It’s just fantastic, you must realise that this keeps a game living! I recently played an instagib assault game with Auke, and I liked it. It’s a new angle of assault. I don’t know, but it’s not that assault or UT displeases me, but the time I have and can spend behind the computer for me is limited. The computer is of limits on school days for two years now, simply because my marks were not sufficient. So u see the time I have, I have to split in different games. I’m really into Independence War 2 right now but one thing remains, UT is a default install, it keeps being installed on my system and it will be if I ever have to reinstall the OS.
Well, I think u guys still don’t know anything of me, but feel free to ask….this will be it for the time being.
