Need your help for a uni project. Please just tell me the names of some scary-themed games you've played in the past (their age doesn't matter). Games where sound / music were used to enhance the oppressive, creepy atmosphere are even better, since that's the area of the project.

Some games I already have:

Thief (1-3)
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

Silent Hill

Thanks, nice start. I should have mentioned that first-person games are ideal (eg. F.E.A.R., S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Thief) because the project will use a first person game. Planescape isn't really scary-themed, it just has some strange bits in it (eg. Ravel).

Last but not least Minecraft, mining for hours near lava, sudden rustling sound and explosion launching you into the lava, will make anyone soil themselves
 
All great, thanks. Hadn't considered Dead Space but that's an excellent idea. I actually thought about contacting the guy who made Slender and asking if I could use its framework, since I know it's a Unity game and therefore ideal. I doubt he'd let me though :(

Aliens vs Predator 2 definately has some shocking parts (at least first time you play it).
Especially the Marine story mode.
