Yeye i know i am dumb, so i hope someone smarter than me can explain why my Windows 7 says that "only" about 10GB is used on whole C, when the Windows-folder itself (on C !!!!) containing more than 12GB of data? :hangover:
Caused by hidden patches or some Clusterthingy?

to give credit to chit&chat subforum, i'll add two funny footprints:

- Microsoft put Shut Down in Start.
- Microsoft created a software called "Microsoft Works".

Now enlight me!!!!

I haven't checked mine yet, but there could be a couple of reasons for this. Certainly the first which springs to mind is NTFS junctions.

Hacked german version?
Dont have the same problem on any of my copies.

its a legally bought version of Win7 Prof. 64bit

System recovery is not enabled, also the pagefile is set to a stable value. Chkdsk didnt give any errors :(

dunno what ntfs junctions are but they sound like those links (pointers) in unix (or just linux? meh).
that would have been my guess:
maybe one of the two displays does recurse them, one doesnt?
then again i dunno if windoze actually supports stuff like that.
but for some reason i am pretty sure timo is right and googling "ntfs junction" wouldn't be a bad idea

or maybe hidden/locked/ntfssupersecureforbiddenaccesstono1execptbill-ed files aren't always counted?

or maybe it recognizes porn and ignores it at times?

Can only assume one is showing the size of the actual data on the drive (10GB) and the other is showing the size of disk space being used becuase of file system alocation block size? (12GB)

The most relevant question is: why are you using Windows?
you see these game links on the desktop?

and for the first thing you wanted to be enlightened about, bart: the menu isnt called Start anymore, it's kinda only the Windows Menu, because testpeople couldn't figure out to go Start and then Shut Down to actually shutdown the PC. Ever since Vista I believe.
No idea about your GB-counting problem but I've got to say Win7 is quite nice so far. in the 2 months Im using it now anyway

Well, i decided to reinstall, after the reinstallation it's shown correctly.

Hooray, now i've "just" to install all software and do all teh configuration again :bananna:

Oh another nice Microsoft logic:

32bit Dll's are located on a 64bit windows in the SysWOW64 folder.
64bit dll's in the System32 folder.

smells like BSOD :D
