Xp with Sp2

I have had to install Sp2 for Xp other day cause it said "S.T.A.L.K.E.R." needed it, this also fixed my usb2 running slow

Now my pc locks up when it feels like it.
only way i can get pc to work again is to press teh re-set button.
only been doing this since i installed SP2.
any ideas what could b making it lock up?

Update your drivers and get all critical updates from Windows Update.
Check your system logs if there is anything.
If all above fail run checkdisk from install CD.

iv done all updates, and so far today there has been no lock ps

do what brajan said: Check logs.
Start -> Run -> eventvwr

There you find systemlogs, divided into 3 (or 4 at some systems) categories.
Errors (believe me about 80% of PCs have atleast 1 error) are shown in red symvols with a failure code.


Well i read in other forums that PCs after installing SP2 aint working as they should (even caused by hardware damages).
Dunno if that's true or just untrue nightmare stories.
Some said that the SP changes teh voltage of some components.
I really cant believe that, but to be sure set the CPU speed to normal and check the temperature.
