HELP needed ASAP

my comp just crashed..and when i rebooted nothing happened cept for a *spool* error, fatal exceptions in GDI.exe and then it would restart

only DOS would work but i need to backup stuff on my C: (to a CD) which i only got this week....so i cant format now

anyone know what this is/what i can do? :(

First - questions.
What did you do before it happened? Installing software or may be drivers.. or something like that?

Second - try to boot in safe mode. Unplug all unnecessary devices... Sound card, printer etc etc, and remove all corresponding drivers. Actually you have to leave your video card in VGA PCI mode, and all other unnecessary devices removed. Leave only mouse, video card + CDRW drive.

Thats only logical thing I can advise.

well i installed DivX drivers
then the comp crashed about 5 mins later when i opened an Inet Explora
on reboot, windows didnt load (safe or otherwise) and somehow (no matter what i do ) DOS wont read my CD drive..

and erm lol wtf it just loaded...i backed up loads of @#%$ to floppy drives...so i guess now i'll be burning CDs for all of today ;)

dunno what made it load now and not b4...:/


hehe, man my comp is weird :p

thnx for info though :) guess it was just an April Fool's joke or something..? :)
