Fae Fife.
Okies so my not even so old WD Raptor has gone down the swanny.
Still got secondarry 5400 speed drive.
Need new primary windows drive.

Question : Do I go for the old mechanical drive. Or a new shiny solid state affair?

Pro's and cons if any please?

I'm just speccing out a new computer. I asked Mym to do it for me months ago for a hefty sum, but he totally stonewalled me and insulted my mother. I'm going for an SSD in my new one just because it's now available. Why go back to the old types when better tech is now available. And you're from Fife so you can easily afford the extra cost :thumb:

lol Useless.

Yeah SSH for the win!

As im sure I've typed before, I got 2 identical rigs (1 at work and 1 at home) ... except at home I got an SSD and I can notice the difference in terms of responsiveness (as subjective as it is).

Get yer wallet out and spend some pie.

SSH as in Unix?
Lol.
Portion of next pocket money allocation put aside for a new shiney SSD.
Looking at this one for starters http://www.ebuyer.com/product/225415
Not sure of the real world effects of the likes of IOPS claimed function tho.
Still open to recommendations...

Looks good, its a SandForce based controller, and the controllers makes all the difference in the world of SSDs. And SandForce are among the fastest ones.
