/EDIT

Moved this thread from DoG Private, as some others may find it useful - the fix can be found on the 7th post here.

---------

I know one or two of you have one, so would you mind posting your UT config and opengl driver, maybe nvidia driver version also?

Having a few troubles with mine.

UT works absolutely great in full screen mode, but as soon as i flick to windowed mode, or minimize or try to resume full screen, the 3D stuff goes all whack, while the 2d overlay remains fine.

well, i have recently upgraded to a intle Quad Q6600 <...> with my 8800GTS 512 it runs all UT3 maps (that i have played at least) at max framerate with all set to max textures etc at screen res 1280x1024 so I'm more than happy with the rig.

I'm specifically looking in your direction!

Heh i was going to post same issue but you beat me to it. Exactly same problem here.

Yeh! :D

I tried all sorts of INI settings and UTGLR combos, all do the same. I'm glad I'm not the only one though, it's not a faulty card then, just maybe a driver design problem - I noticed we're on the same drivers.

Will keep looking around; might also try manually editing an old driver inf to force it to install.

OK; tweaked the 97.94's to install flawlessly, however the XP UI wouldn't boot up and forced the monitor to turn off until complete power down.

Also tweaked 169.32's to install - exactly the same problem present as the newest 175.16's

I'm wondering if it's a firmware problem with the G92's! :(

Or maybe I should contact Chris Dohnal to see if he knows of any tricks that can be coded into the OpenGL.dll for UT?

I have exact same problems with breakup after minimising UT. I assumed UT was porked with multi CPU etc.

Don't supose you can fix the flaw with UT under vista locking up after certain auth systems have done their work? :D (Not UTAS)

Here's my nvidia output:

Yep good assumption.

Just worked out that this is actually very easy to fix - just create a custom profile for UT in the NVIDIA control panel and disable threaded optimisation.

Job Done!

- Done a quick guide if you know anyone who's got the same problems.

Fixed it for me with 9600GT and Phenom 9850.
Also had the problem with 7900GT and Phenom 9850, but that card died on me so can't test this fix. I switched to Direct3D8 on that one, which worked fine too.
But if you really want OpenGL, this fix is the way to go! :thumb:

Actually, I've tried both D3D8 and D3D9, and I personally preffer OpenGL. Seems 'smoother' to me; also the D3D9 renderer actually crashes UT out when going to Window mode.

subz - can you test setting Threaded optimisation to false in the global settings to see if it's having problems assigning just to the app?

Same thing - However, D3D works fine, except for being a whole lot slower than OGL to enter the game after minimizing it.

D3D has a laggy framerate too, imo.

But oh well, I can just resort to never minimizing at all. :P

One day i'll ban the word WOW on this forums thx to those fucking bots!
