If you have multiple servers for redundancy or simply for different products everything will go down if that target area is hit. By being hit it could be an engineer spilling coffee over that rack, earthquake, powerouttage, fire etc.
It's pretty much the same as putting all your eggs in a single basket.

I don't see whats so dumb about having completely different services running at the same location..
Yeah, running 2 irc servers in the same location would be dumb, but running 1 forums/web/irc server, and 1 ut server, theres hardly any difference whether you run them apart or together, its not like chances of either of them going down are smaller.

think he meant if theres a large failure in the datacentre, we wouldnt lose all of them in one go, ie irc, forums, league servers etc

but who cares.. its a power outage.. shit happens fs - i appreciate the servers being there at all

Think he mostly refers to gothica's #1/2/3 being in the same location as bacon, and thus a failure seems pretty severe indeed. However, you can simply transfer funds into our (gothica's) dutch bank-account and we'll discount your payment on uta's invoices, saving them money they can put to use for another eggy basket.

Well, seeing that bacon and the ut servers are pretty unrelated, hell, if they all have to have some downtime, it might as well be when bacon is down, because the booking system wont work anyway then.
